You're my beeeeeest friend

Check out this redonk action. Sir Pugsalot with his pal Mount Mastiff. [Shaking head]

Daggwood_and_roca_close_up

You know that Sir Pugsalot is the brains of the outfit, he's all planning to get a ride on Mount Mastiff to the dog cookie jar and the dinner table for dessert snorfing.

Img_2544

But I bet Mount Mastiff calls the major shots, like where the pair is gonna nap for the day, how much effort to exert in general etc.

Kristin D., Ruhmember that time we scaled Mount Mastiff!?

Oh my goodness! I've never seen such a jolly-looking mastiff before! And this is also the first pug I've found to be cute!

Julie

Nina - so do I!!!

That last shot - too much to handle. Those are two adorable puppers.

Is that a bowl of giant marshmallows by the fireplace?

 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 11:56 AM

Woah!!! So Cute!

I used to live nextdoor to a mastiff. He was a big horse of a doggie.

So not only did these dogs' owner(s) get both a mastiff and a pug, creating the adorable "mini-me" effect, but they also keep a bowl of marshmallows by the fireplace!? I love them.

Alex
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:05 PM

I shall call him ... Mini Me!

Seriously, that wee pup is going to be very disappointed when he reaches full size and is still smaller than his bro's head.

Awwwwsome!

 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:05 PM

Oh -- and Em? I have no idea what those are. They look like they might be votive candles, or really big hexamine tabs (firestarters?) or possibly just rolled-up socks (firestarters?).

Theo
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:06 PM

OMG....my head just exploded!

NYVenus
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:08 PM

What a huggable looking pair!

Theresa
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:09 PM

Cute, yes. But I find the big guy strangely reminiscent of Jabba the Hut...with a "mini-me".

kaber
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:09 PM

Does Jabba the Hut have such lovely brown eyes? I daresay no!

Theresa
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:14 PM

That last picture slays me! I love the tiny pug head on the meaty mastiff leg...

Apparently mastiffs and pugs do not like untoasted marshmallows. Who knew?!

Berg
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:14 PM

I call "matchingks". Because except for size, they're practically twins! And I love them both! And I want them both! And I envy them living in a house with a bowl of marshmallows by the fireplace for impromptu toasting!

Mary (the first)
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:16 PM

Matchingks it is. Adding tag now...

Theo
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:17 PM

Twetally "matchingks!" Of course, I hear Sir Pugsalot with a Edward G. Robinson voice ("It's curtains for you, Mugsy!") and Mt. Mastiff with a big galoot voice ("Duh, we're gonna smash him good boss..."). The little dudes always have status!

 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:19 PM

I'll take one in 2T and one XXXL, please.

Definite Rule 7 action, and Matchingks!

Extra bonus: Mastiff can use puglet as a drool rag. You know he'll need one.

Pheas
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:20 PM

A pug is fine too.

Theo
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:25 PM

ok, nobody has answered my question... seriously, how much do mastiffs weigh???

ceejoe
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:26 PM

OOOG!!! OMG! I love these! they almost are matchingks but not quite...

ceejoe, I've heard weights as high as 200, but I think 150-175 would be more usual.

Pheas
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 12:34 PM

must be tough to climb mount mastiff.....even for a person who is, like, 30 feet tall.

People let me tell you 'bout my best friend,
He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end.
People let me tell you bout my best friend,
He's a one boy cuddly toy, my up, my down, my pride and joy.

People let me tell you 'bout him he's so much fun
Whether we're talkin' man to man or whether we're talking son to son.
Cause he's my best friend.
Yes he's my best friend.

Courtship of Eddies Father... I loved that show.

claudia

I think the 'marshmallows' are really votive candles. you know, for the making of ze romance . . . which puts an entirely different spin on this setting.

Crackling fire, candlight, pinot noir . . . and You!

I had no idea mastiffs were so BIG. I love him, he's so sweet with the little guy. Yes, I think I'd like to have both, please. I second (or fourth, or whatevs) that thought!

Just following up to all the wonderful comments! These two wonderful dogs are mine: the bullmastiff is Daggwood and he weighs a whopping 209.4 lbs! The pug is Roca (not even close to 290 lbs). These two are best friends and are inseparable, it's a great combination to have. And the bowl next to the fireplace is full of votives I burn in the fireplace during the summer. So glad you enjoyed the pics!

I just noticed Sir Pugsalot has a pink collar. Maybe it's "Lady Pugsalot..."

(really hate to break it to all of you lovely, enthusiastic people, but I do believe what looks like a bowl of untoasted marshmallows next to the fireplace are probably firestarters...)

thanks, Pheas, you were right on!
Can you imagine taking these two for a walk?!?

Krissiebert:

They're delightful, but I've got to know -- which one is Alpha Dog?

My money's on the pug, of course. :)

 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 01:24 PM

i adore the first picture, the Mastiff is all " I LOVE her SOOOOOO Much! She is my BABEH!"
i have the 'big dog little dog' at my house too, they just love each other, that's all.

scooterpants
 |  Nov 26, 2008 at 01:25 PM

LOL, you're right, Roca (the pug) is totally the alpha! It's pretty hilarious to see how in control she is. Daggwood eats last, and heaven forbid we pet him before her.
