How to pee up a tree with great difficulty.

hon glad
 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 08:56 AM

Double you.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 08:56 AM

Huh. This actually seems to be a common piddling technique amongst toy-sized dogs.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:00 AM

Um, the concern I would have is for the pee coming down and getting all over his fur.

It just seems an unsanitary way to do one's business, but I have to give this little guy props for his ingenuity :-)

Excellent handstand. Now let's try downward-facing dog!

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:08 AM

Now I LOOOOVE pugs but I didn't really anticipate being greeted with pug butt just now. What a silly head.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:13 AM

Er... photoshopped? He's missing his back foot!!

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:15 AM

Not shopped, he's not missink any feets!

I always wondered why some of those little guys do that??!!!!

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:20 AM

OMG, Nai, he's missing his whole right-front leg, too!

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:20 AM

Nai, he's not missing his back foot -- it just blends in perfectly with the tree!

I would be concerned about gravity taking effect and getting the pee in the dog's FACE! But then, I guess that's why he hold his face so far away from the rest of his body, huh?

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:23 AM

Ehn!! If I could just get my pee a little higher....

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:29 AM

Dogs are such weirdos!

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:29 AM

I think his little foot is in under the bark of the tree.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:31 AM

this post is advice for the nuffs in the cats n racks post!

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:43 AM

Whiskers -- LOL. Wasn't intentional, I assure you.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:49 AM

I'm suspicsh about that back footsie!

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:52 AM

Common technique? Dogs are weirdos? Tell me some human trained him to do this, right? No dog would just up and do that on his own, right? Right???

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:55 AM

And here all this time I thought only bats peed while upside down.....

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:58 AM

He's scent-marking the tree to establish his territory. Gotta keep the bears away some how.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 09:58 AM

Okay. Now I want to see what happens next - does he fall over? Slide right into the Yoga "bridge" pose? Hm?

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:00 AM

Little dogs actually do this on their own. I think there are a couple of reasons why they might - one is that they're trying to mark over a scent high enough up that it's hard to reach; the other is that piddling as high as you can to mark your turf in the way that makes you look as big and bad as possible is just kind of a male dog thing. I think bigger dogs would do this if their bodies were built in a way that made it possible.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:00 AM

he is totally about to give himself a golden shower.

i guess he likes the taste of his own lemonade :(

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:04 AM

and about the "wheeeee" ----

gonads and strife. that's all.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:05 AM

Pug parkour???

What will they think of next?

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:07 AM

Thanks, Cindylou. My mind is now officially boggled.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:07 AM

cindylou said it best, BUT, it isn't just males. My daughter's diminutive girl dog does this on her own and indeed, she winds up peeing on the backs of her front legs sometimes. Being impressive to the big dogs is worth washing your paws and arms frequently. It's fun to walk her and watch drivers skreech to a halt and watch in amazement.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:29 AM

ohh marie_n, you made my day.
"gonads in the lightning!"

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:30 AM

I had a schnauzer who could walk on his front paws like that and - I'm 100% not joking here - poop on his own head. I think he was trying to pee so hard that he pooped. He did it 3 or 4 times in his life, always when there was snow on the ground.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:30 AM

i'm probably the only person that's watched that recently just for kicks.

that and all your base.

i was just trying to take it back to the olden days.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:34 AM

Gosh, Cindylou just beat me to a long post! Thanks!!! The higher your pee pee line, the more you own the place.

I have NEVER seen a dog do this though. I would probably crash my car if I saw it while driving!!

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:35 AM

I normally eschew the scatalogical, but I can't help wondering how puggles makes #2 (and kind of glad to not know).

I have never seen this. I have learned something. Thank you, C.O. Thank you.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:42 AM

I just did the biggest double take ever, cricked my neck even.

What the heck????

Weirdo position pup, lol!

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:55 AM

the first time i saw this little number from a poodle i laughed until i nearly wet myself. (standing right side up, of course.)

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:57 AM

I have witnessed this... A relative of mine had a boston terrier (female) who peed like this, standing on her front legs. No tree needed, she would just pee like that in general.

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 10:59 AM

HAHA that dog is out of control!

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 11:06 AM

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 11:08 AM

 |  Jun 12, 2008 at 11:43 AM
