Guess who just filled out their absentee statewide primary balllllot!

This lil' stoat! He's votin' 'n' stoatin'!

[OK, technically, it's a Marten, but Martens only vote for Nader and I didn't want to encourage that]

Siriusly people, this beautiful little bebeh wants me to take her home. The kissable nose, the coloring, the earnest, I own your soul, eyes. I shall perish!

What rhymes with "weasel"?

I've never seen one of these before and OMG it's sooooo cute!

Two-toned fur is gorgeous. But his little alert face, pointy ears, and oh-so puffy paws are overloading my circuits.

I am ded. Ded from cute.

Ok seriously - this wasn't here like an hour ago - was it? I mean, it just showed up on my computer between the pet bonding and the roundular seal pup... right? (people?)

I think a Marten would make a great lunch!

EV -- it's the TypePad time warp.

Conventional linear physics is for lu-hu-hu-husers.

Weasel rhymes with Vin Diesel?

I'll have one of each, please.

Bookish
 |  May 20, 2008 at 09:04 AM

You could have a still-life weasel
Painted by your boy Vin Diesel
If he could paint, and had an easel.

Theo
 |  May 20, 2008 at 09:08 AM

Lol @ Bookish. Not a bad idea. Share?

That Marten is like a cross between a fox and a kitteh - that's some super cute powers he's got!

(I could go on, by the way, but it only gets dumber.)

Theo

I NEEEed to test the snorgability of that orangish fur. And just how moist is that nosicle.

*dons lab coat*

You're coming with me little fella.

Bit of real-life trivia, though: Brad Pitt is a pretty decent architectural photographer. Not making this up.
http://www.hewnandhammered.com/hewn_and_hammered/2007/12/brad-pitt-bunga.html

So, maybe Vin *does* paint.

I've got my ballot in my hot little hand, turning it in at lunch. I'm stoatin' baby!

Theo, pleeeeeeeeeeeeze continue, I was cracking up big time!

Seriously, all I got left is "sneezle". Reeeeachy.

Theo
 |  May 20, 2008 at 09:22 AM

Well, Theo, it worked for Ogden Nash.

I can't help but wonder if it's mud or choklit the little marten has been running through.

(And I wish Brad Pitt would do *more* photography...so we could stop seeing his mug everywhere...)

I don't know about artist, but Vin Diesel is a RPG gamer IRL. Tee hee... *runs off full of nerdy happiness*

Things that rhyme with Weasel...
Liesl? (you know, from the Sound of Music)
Schlamezal (Schlamazel, hassenpfeffer incorporated - Laverne & Shirley anyone?)
Measle(s), but not mumps.

Aaaand, I'm out.

Oh, and the marten certainly is cute. :o)

Kris

How 'bout "squeezle"?

barb
 |  May 20, 2008 at 10:27 AM

teasle
-any of several herbs of the genus Dipsacus native to the Old World having flower heads surrounded by spiny bracts

easle
That is all I can come up with.

You forgot Dweezel (as in Zappa).

I'd like one please (marten, not Zappa).

Decca
 |  May 20, 2008 at 11:26 AM

There once was a little weasel,
Who thought that he spotted a measle,
But then, after a while,
He saw, with a smile,
It was only some paint from his easel.

 |  May 20, 2008 at 11:31 AM

Wow. Another anerable aminal of which I have never heard until now.

(And no, I'm not referring to Mr. Diesel).

Who knew that stoats and martens were so politically engaged?

berthaservant
 |  May 20, 2008 at 11:32 AM

Excellent 3CatNight!!

Decca - HOW could I have missed Dweezil???? Perhaps Frank named his daughter Moon Unit because it doesn't rhyme with Weasel? (Of course their other kids are Ahmet Emuukha Rodan and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen, so what do *I* know...)

in PG Wodehouse Jeeves & Bertie Wooster books, Bertie often refers to a Difficult Female Friend as a 'young beazle.' FWIW.

Q. What does that sweet member of the weasel family wear on those cute puffy feets?
A. DOC MARTENS. humor!

ps are there mitford sister fans posting here, Hon Glad and Decca? :-)

Y'all are really outdoing yourselves today. I'm laughing so hard, I'm disturbing the cat on my lap.

By the way, @roisin, it's
"teazel." It's still the best way to raise the nap on fine woolen fabrics once they've been fulled. Can't beat Mother Nature.

And the marten is super-cute. I usually don't like weaselly critters, who are bad guys in Susan Cooper's wonderful books.

I saw a marten once in northern Ontario! It trotted across a trail I was hiking -- just a few metres away. They are really good hunters -- chipmunks beware!

Please let me know how I can order one!!!

 |  May 20, 2008 at 02:35 PM

Someone else who is a Susan Cooper fan?! I love her books. My copy of The Dark Is Rising seems to have disappeared and I am bereft.

I have a friend who named her cat Dweezel. She was a fan of Frank Zappa's. The friend, I don't know about the cat.

The marten is one of the cutest things I've seen.

There was a young Marten named Cecil,
Who hated being called a weasel.
So Meg called him a stoat, Because of his vote.
But nader to weasels is cease all...

The only nitpick I have about CuteOverload (and it's a very small one) is there isn't enough marten love. :D Yay for martens!

How is it that such vicious little mustelids can be soooo darned cute??

There once was a young marten
Who thought he was a brave Spartan
He got the weapons alright
And set out to fight-
But he wore a kilt of Glasgow Tartan.

(Sorry, I've been out of touch!)
