Mini-Pug on Mini Lounge

There is really only ONE thing to do when you own a mini Eames lounge. Take a baby pug and place him on there and snap a photo. That photo will eventually end up on C.O., with tons of people saying it's Photoshopped, but who cares. There's no law against that.

Shut up! Will you look at the tiny, pink gutulence??? All he needs is a tiny little pipe and a wee newspaper.

Pugsie: "But I really wanted a Mies Van Der Rohe Barcelona chair. This Eames chair will have to do."

And then later, he can wee ON the newspaper.

 |  Apr 06, 2008 at 10:47 PM

Dr. Pug, I'm glad you could see me on such short notice! I've been having this recurring dream, all about a puppy ...

 |  Apr 06, 2008 at 11:01 PM

I believe, Meg! I believe!

That belly is soooo yummy! :D

 |  Apr 06, 2008 at 11:01 PM

Look at that belleh! I want to smoosh my face in it!

 |  Apr 06, 2008 at 11:07 PM

This post totally made me squeal at the top of my lungs.

 |  Apr 06, 2008 at 11:42 PM

OH My God... Look at the chubs!! I just want to bury my face in the softest pink belleh!

the fact that there just might be a tiny pug sitting in a tiny eames chair makes everything right.

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 12:54 AM

It isn't photoshopped! Eames for real makes mini sizes of their furniture. So get one for your pups, it is only $600! http://www.unicahome.com/catalog/item.asp?id=7188&PartnerID=FR

It also isn't my picture :( I just saved it to my flickr so I could have it always.

[puts on designer/artist's hat]
I would say this shot is PS. The reason being that the light for the puggulence with the anerable guttence is clearly taken with a flash (crisp dark shadow on hid legs). The possibly Mini Eames on the other hand appears to be shot in a white studio. This and other famous designer chair models actually exist. They are about 1:5 I think. A major gallery (NGV in Melbourne, Australia) I know sells them. This makes a real shot of this composition possible as the scale of the model relative to the pup is about right I reckon.
[adjusts Cutologist's glasses]
Having said all of that this picture made me gigle and I love it real or not. She is one funny and cute puppeh :)

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 01:48 AM

I recognize those Eames and Herman Miller chairs wherever they are! I used to live in Holland Michigan area. Executive Pugulence requires the best!

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 03:45 AM

To add to LadyMeerKats PS speculation, Industrial Titan McPuggerson's legs are placed too far into the chairs seat compared to the surrounding cushery, practically the wood base. Small items like that tend not to have that kind of give under weight (what weight their is in this tiny waif of a dog).

"Stock numbers are up! I demand shareholder raspberries on my tummy!" *hurumph

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 06:03 AM

Good grief! Are you people trying to kill me???

This lil Hudsucker Belleh... you know, for zerberts!

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 06:17 AM

That is NOT 'shopped, people. The evidence I provide is look at the grain of the wood floor compared to the size of the chairs. Now, I've never seen wood planks that shuge before unless it's made out of redwoods. Either that, or its pergo (or some varient) in which case, the planks are definitely not that big compared to a normal-sized chair. SO that just leaves one of two options, eiter A) the planks are FREAKING GINORMOUS or B) the chair is baby pug-sized.

Now, using Occam's Razor (and the evidence provided by emilytbm) which do you think is more likely?

BTW, I wanna stick mah face in that pug's gutulence.

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 06:20 AM

First, I will echo the assertion that this is Photoshopped. Then I'm'a jump back, slap mahself.

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 06:29 AM

Is this for reals? I can't believe they have an Eames chair that size, let alone also having a pug sit in it!?!? Love it!

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 06:36 AM

In super serious puppy voice: Yes, yes...tell me more about your business plan.

Definitely shopped because the lighting doesn't match from puppeh to chair.

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 06:47 AM

I think Dr. Pug must share an DEVASTATINGLY cute practice with Dr. Tinycat:

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 06:56 AM

This picture is shopped, I can tell from some of the pixels and from having seen quite a few shops in my life.

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 07:25 AM

As a graphic designer, I'm going to have to agree with Lady Meerkat. You can tell by the shadows underneath the chair, and the clean outline of the pug against the background.

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 07:39 AM

Vicki, we all agree the chairs come in that size (see links upstream), but the photoshop experts in the house agree that this picture is pasted together. (Ok, I'll add the link again here for lazy people: http://www.unicahome.com/catalog/item.asp?id=7188&PartnerID=FR )

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 07:43 AM

But surely there must be a committed cuteologist in the house who could recreate this shoot with a pug actually *in* a chair? Now THAT would rock. It's only $630, people. Get the chair. You know you want it.

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 07:50 AM

Shopped...not shoppped...who cares?! The fact remains that, somewhere, there is a pug this cute and that's all I need. And, might I point out the enormous head-to-body ratio of Mr. Puggelsons? Good grief! The qte, eet iz too moishe!

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 07:52 AM

Isn't there a way to analyze the file properties to see whether the JPEG had been shopped or not? I'm sure it's been touched up in an editing program but I need to know and have proof that this isn't just a photoshop.

My friends seem to think its a shop too and now I'm beinning to doubt, but I need better evidence than "lighing" and "pixels".

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 07:53 AM

LOL you people Of course it is shopped but who cares LOOK at teh GUTULENCE!
IT is blinding how can you even care to worry if someone spent time making it so. IT IS ♥♥♥

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 08:29 AM

Photoshopped yes, but VERY CUTE - and VERY POSSIBLE TO RECREATE! Who's taking up the challenge? ;)

LOVE this pic. Puppehs are awesome shrinks.

LOL! Weather it's shopped or not, who ever thought to put a wee baby pug in a Eames lounge is pure genius and should be congratulated.

I agree it is 'shopped, but is fairly convincingly done.

@Vicki - the lighting can the best giveway as to whether a pic is 'shopped or not. In the pic, take note of the soft overall light on the chair and footstool coming from above, casting the soft shadow beneath the each. Now look at the shadow between the nearest puppeh front leg and his tummy. It is a sharp-edged deep shadow, meaning bright direct light was hitting the puppeh from the front. The direction and intensity of the lighting is different for the pup and the chair, meaning that they have been put together. A photo could not have been taken that would have produced that mixed lighting. They both would have had the same sorts of shadows. Someone with even more skill could have changed the lighting on the pup to make it look entirely like a real photo.

I belong to a photomanipulations group online. Very expert manipulators can create PhotoShopped pics that have no flaws and once saved as a JPG file, there is no indication at all that it is a fake. There is no file property data that will tell you it's 'shopped. It takes an experienced eye to spot the fakes, but not all even then.

It matters not that it's fake if the picture provokes the intended reaction in the viewer. It did for me. I'm a cat person and it make me LOL long and hard. It COULD have been shot with a camera, and the pic is very cute either way.

Who's to say the photgrapher didn't own both the chair and the puppeh? IMHO it would be easier to 'shop than get that puppeh to sit still in the right pose!

Are you sure that is Eames?
It looks like a Bark-er-lounger to moi!!!

It's not shopped.
It's a mini replica of the Eames Lounge Chair.

Here's a photo.

I think most of us agree it *is* a mini Eames chair, but many of us are of the opinion the puppeh was 'shopped into it.

This looks like it might be a bizarre chapter of the von Possum saga. The Baroness in therapy or something.

I know nothing about it but it's shopped (the doggeh, not the chaireh).

That doggeh should be saying "ahem" and clearing his throat a lot.

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 10:41 AM

I'm too bowled over by the cuteness to care if it's shopped or not...Geez, I actually cried out "Omg!"

Usually it's a low "awww" so as to not disturb people, but this one! "OMG! SOOoo CUTE!"

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 11:08 AM

Hmmm...the Baroness doesn't strike me as someone who would "stoop" to therapy. Too "common", you know. She would never admit to being needful of anything, except maybe a better quality of household help. Now, a torrid, illicit affair with Monsieur McPuppersons would be something else entirely!

*wonders if I've overstepped. A thousand pardons, my literary liege.*

 |  Apr 07, 2008 at 11:14 AM

I finally got something in from a submishione! Yay me!

I prefer to believe (despite any evidence to the contrary) that this Mr. Pug is indeed relaxing somewhere, mojito in hand, in his mini Eames lounge chair. For reals ya'll.
