Ooooh! What a great picture! The mommy sea lion is smiling and enjoying the pups hi-jinks!
This just makes me think of Happy Feet and that scene when that sea lion (or whatever it was) was chasing the main character through the water and then when he shot up out of the water...the 4(5) other penguins and the main character pretended to be running away in slow motion because the sea lion couldn't move fast on land. I laughed then...I laugh now...
Here's another great pic from the winners....http://www.mnh.si.edu/exhibits/natures_best_2007/gallery/redfox.html
DejaMew - the red fox pic is MOST excellent!
Wonderful picture the pup is lets play mom's like later kid later......
Kid: "Mom? Mom! Hey, mom! Mom.. Mom? Mo~om! Mommy...? Hey, mom..."
Mom: "If I pretend to be sleep, he'll shut up... eventually."
Tell me the story about the bucket again.
Mom!
MOM!
If you haven't already check out the other photos in the exhibit - they are astonishing.
WTG, Eddie!
Cute points for nomming something + cute points for being a teeny version of that something = point OVERLOAD
But the red fox DejaMew linked to had me creased up. XD
I saw that program the red fox picture is from. It was called, I think, _Yellowstone in Winter_. The fox is hunting for dinner. He hears the mice or whatever his prey is running in their burrows under the snow and dives down for one.
Love the sea lions.
I was about to send this pic in! I think the momma is actually enjoying her pup's antics - if you had such a cute pup, wouldn't you? :)
it reminds me of my kitten and dog and this pic is now my desktop backround

the grand prize photo of the zebras is gorgeous. their shadows remind me of ancient cave wall paintings. wow.
The little sea lion babie's got a bit of sandy reverse-eyeliner going on there.
(And what on earth is a "Babie" (pronounced Baa-bee)you may ask? Time to watch some Green Acres reruns!)
Could almost be a candidate for the "I shall leeck you" category!!!
Did you guys see the Kodiak Bear with the bee on his nose and a lower lip pout going on it is fantastic
