Look at her.

Adorable Paca's we've contemplated raising them, but at $15,000 - $30,00 each... it's a bit too.

Brown Alpaca: "Well then, dear, tan IS your color!"

tblue - Theo normally stays on top of the evil spammers; these links go up all the time! It's just, normally he takes them down!

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 02:16 PM

Is it just me, or does that right alpaca remind anyone of Carol Channing??

Mary (the first)
 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 03:08 PM

Mary the first, yes, yes, it does look like Carol Channing. Good call.

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 04:04 PM

Merlin? Gandalf? Is that you guys??

(Those are the alpacas at the SF Zoo's farm.)

Soooo cute and floofy. Hideous teeth though.

Tep ten: Best CO Caption. Evah.

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 06:24 PM

Okay, I'm not even going to ask what that link was to. I usually don't click the links anyway, but since Theo didn't see fit to remove the links CBF had with her comments (and she took part in normal, healthy online conversation) I felt it would be safe :) Not everyone who has pictures linked is a perverted brat on mum's computer!

Anyhow, I was thinking it looked like the alpaca farm up where I just visited in Washington. Lovely little critters, alpacas, and LOVELY soft fiber for making stuff :)

I know the chances are slim... but any chance this picture was taken in NJ at the Sussex County Farm & Horse Show/State Fair? I was there this last weekend and saw pretty much this exact same thing... except my pictures are nowhere near as good.

woot to Jersey CO'ers!

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 07:25 PM

It may be, Danyes, as the flickr accound had a section entitled NJ or something...

hi danyes, yes, this was from the farm & horse show, or state fair, or whatever we are calling it these days. i'm kind of amazed you recognized it. did you get any pictures of the chicks? i tried but the little fluffballs were bouncing around too much to focus on.

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 07:56 PM

Dewds, I appreciate the info about the comment! It's like, so banned!

I miss Theo too. I hope those fabulous Europeans are treating him well...

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 07:57 PM

I think I'm losing my mind. The link that is now gone never showed me anything but a photo of Don Knotts...

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 08:30 PM

I am soo thankful I missed whatever was posted here that shouldn't have been..I am a sensitive soul and get easily disturbed. As for those Alpacas.. omg.. yes.. meg.. best caption EVAR! Great Stuff.. Gawd I love this place. I think I'll move in..

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 08:35 PM

Thank yee, Meg!

What if the Europeans won't give Theo back?!

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 08:53 PM

Thanks Meg now everything is right again on CO.

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 09:05 PM

Kat - if it were any other picture from the fair I probably wouldn't have recognized it, but I stood laughing at these characters for a good 5 mins. I (stupidly) went armed with nothing but a camera phone this year so only got a few rather poor quality shots of the alpacas and goats...

And it will always be the "Farm & Horse Show" to me since that's what I grew up with -- always good for some cute farm animals and a mullet sighting or 20 ;) Saw your other pics from the fair on flickr - all great!

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 09:24 PM

It *was* a picture of Don Knotts! (Thanks AuntieMame!) I even double-checked the link right after posting! I post something about the alpaca looking like Don Knotts with a link to a picture from a Don Knotts tribute page, I come back 12 hours later and BLAM I'm Larry Flynt ovah heah.

Do I dare ask what it was a picture of?

I swear to the almighty that it was an innocent posting and that the link was OK at the time. The picture I linked to was from here:

http:// www.worldofcheese.org / knotts / gallery /
(URL splintered just in case..)
It was one of the Don Knotts trading card pics (top row first on the left.)

Apologies for any misunderstandings. I intended no offense, inadvertant or vertant.

Which leaves asking, what the heck happened!?

 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 09:39 PM

hi revwaldo

i'm so glad to hear it was a mistake. the original link definitely was NOT to the Don Knotts tribute page.

if you look up the slang word "goatse" on the urban dictionary, it will explain what the photo consisted of.

 |  Aug 15, 2007 at 04:49 AM

Oh man, RevWaldo, sorry you got goatsed. I'm actually glad I know what this intertube phenom is now.

 |  Aug 15, 2007 at 05:25 AM

Well, Auntie Mame, I for one find the sight of Don Knotts extremely disturbing!

 |  Aug 15, 2007 at 06:13 AM

I, unfortunately, clicked it...after it'd been switched.

The caption on the photo said "This [expletive] steals pictures", which leads me to believe that the original website didn't appreciate the link to the pic. I've seen it done on ebay, though not with that particular photo. Gah!

I'm actually surprised, though...straight links like that (as opposed to hotlinking) are usually not an issue...

 |  Aug 15, 2007 at 06:28 AM

Good to find out it was not your fault, Rev. Sorry for the resultant put down and near-blacklisting! Now I too have learned something about the phenom known as getting "goatse'd" Apparently that's been around for a while-surprised I'd never heard of it...
Anyway, I can see the Don Knotts resemblance :-) Alpacas are definitely the nerds of the animal kingdom!

 |  Aug 15, 2007 at 07:54 AM

Thank you, Annie! I've cleared it outta there! Good to know. I just figured the comptuer maintenence gnomes came once in a while and cleared out my system. lol

Yes, my name is really Cricket
 |  Aug 15, 2007 at 10:34 AM

LOL! They look EXACTLY like bitchy junior high girls! Or high school. Whichever.

 |  Aug 15, 2007 at 11:09 AM

Hey Cricket I always clear out my temp files and my cookies after I accidentaly link to something like that or something I suspect may have come with a present. not that it happens often.

 |  Aug 15, 2007 at 02:06 PM

Oh MY Gawd Celeste do you see what shirley is wearing today.
I know Heather. She has completely broken rule number 15 never wear shaggy clothing to school.
OH and look at those shoes... That was an unfortunate choice.

 |  Aug 15, 2007 at 08:54 PM

OMG LOL!!! Look at their expressions!
