Halp! My paws are gynorm!

Look at this kitteh and his enormous paws.

He'll grow into them in like 3 years. Love the back paws togethers. So nice.

Zowie--lookit those eyes. Is this someone's pet? I was wondering what's up with the car and the sneakered feet in the background.

Almost looks like a statue, especially with those huge, glazed eyes. A little disquieting to look at. Beautiful markings, though.

Robbie

Margays are (says the internet) solitary and nocturnal...so what the heck is this one doing standing on a curb in the middle of the day? Is it a pet?

Helene

My first thought (after saying/thinking Awwwwww) was that this was one of those designer cats, like the Toyger...because of the background (and the closeness of the photographer) I'm wondering if it's domesticated? Maybe it's in a foreign country since they have such cooler pets than the U.S. lets us have! I want it!

From what I can see on the internets it seems to be a Margay but where is he? One site I found said there are only 64 in the world so presumably they aren't just out roaming city streets. Does anyone know?

Mary (the first)
 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 03:59 PM

He is named Lucky. He lives in the village "San Juan del Sur" in Nicaragua.

robin
 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 08:31 PM

no its not silly to want to go nam-nam to his feet I want to too.
I think its CO to the Extreme It makes me wish it was in a safe spot to be a wild kitteh, is there not a zoo that Lucky can go too????

Leah B
 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 08:35 PM

Margays are very similiar to ocelets and the only differance is this margay is smaller than them (ocelets). They have limited wildlife areas left to inhabit and are night dwellers that with their great feet can call the tree tops there home. They even eat fruit, now even thats cute.

Leah B
 |  Aug 14, 2007 at 08:41 PM

Ok he is bootiful. Love the expression. But, I'm sorry, I just have to. These should NOT be pets people!!!!!!!!! Margay or ocelot I can't say. He looks healthy tho and happy. But being a pet is not the responsible action here.

On another note, the sanctuary I interned at has a Margay named, get ready for it....Pancho. Go here for lots of pics of him and maybe some video!

!!! "It has joints in its ankles that rotate 180 degrees. This helps it climb down vertical trees headfirst... It can also hang from tree limbs by one hind foot." !!!

GoranG
 |  Aug 15, 2007 at 12:56 AM

I think the little guy is in a sanctuary or zoo protection program. Just a feeling I have. The area looks like a spot where the kitteh can wander around and get used to being near humans.
