Kitteh Overload

Ya'll, a sweet collage of kittehs has been sent in for your Desktop chaos pleasure. It's 1600 pixels wide and 1200 pixels tall. My favorite kitteh on the sheet is the black and white cat with his muzzlepuff wrapped around the mouse. Yay!

Download the collage here! [525K]

The white cat near the center looks so peeved and defiant! Bratty cats rock!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 06:33 AM

My Christmas present came early! You shouldn't have, but I loves it!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 06:36 AM

Oh, lordie, thank you. Just what I needed to start my Friday before Christmas off with a real kitteh-overload bang!

Thanks, CO and Murrah, Murrah Kwissmuss!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 06:38 AM

lower left hand corner.... Matrix cat... haahahahahahahahah!!!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 06:38 AM

Oh thank you Miss Meg-pie... It's a purrrrfect fit.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 06:41 AM

I love the one of the ginger and white "smiley" cat. So what if it's not real--he's so cute.
Great job on the collage too, very nicely done.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 06:45 AM

i love flying cats! matrix cat is great, as is the one that looks like he's doing some kind of aerial dance move (in the center nearish to the top).

Lovely kitties.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 07:06 AM

Oh my the smiling orange an white kitteh on the second row just took my breath away.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 07:10 AM

This is a great collection of feline facial expressions. It's always amazed me that cats are able to have such expressive faces despite the fact that they're not really very mobile. You know what I mean? You don't generally see a furrowed brow, they don't do all the smiling and whatnot that we do, the main thing that moves is the ear position. Yet they're somehow able to produce all these facial expressions. Sometimes I watch my cats trying to see how they're doing it, like, "Okay, what changed?"

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 07:11 AM

How can you choose JUST ONE favorite?

And if I were to choose, it wouldn't be the one with the poor unfortunate little mousy. Unless you were to tell me the cat and the mouse were buddies, and this is a game they play, and no little meeces were hurt in the making of that photo.

I think if I HAD to choose, it would be the marmalade kitten peeking out of the potty!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 07:37 AM

Hee! at the one eating near the top right. Mmmmm, ham. And I really hope that's a FAKE mouse because if not, *ew* and *sob* :(

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 07:42 AM

I meant the one eating at the top OTHER right.

See? Already evidence of trauma due to the mouse carnage!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 07:46 AM

Poor mousie :(

That's NOT cute.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 07:54 AM

The eaten mouse pic brings sadness to this site. It is not cute in any way.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 08:00 AM

Poor mouse! It isn´t cute at all!!!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 08:09 AM

Ummm...folks? That's part of what cats do and the whole reason humans domesticated them in the first place. Cats are carnivores and predators that also happen to be adorably cute and loaded with personality.

And yes, I did stick this collage up on my desktop, mousie and all. Because I accept the nature of the cat and love them all the more for it.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 08:16 AM

Let's try, love the "sinner," hate the "sin." I love mice, and have had pets, but that aside when my calico Minerva Gumdrop used to catch uninvited mouse guests, I was grateful. I cried for the mousies, but I was proud of her.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 08:20 AM

I thought that Siamese was gnawing on the hand attached to the arm in the background at first. I like the one in the top right corner, with the typical kitty look: "Yeah, I'm licking myself. What about it?" But I think my favorite is the one middle bottom doing the wave.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 08:23 AM

Wow. Totally shocked that Meg pointed out the one potentially controversial photo in the whole collage, which some people might not have noticed. So out of character.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 09:12 AM

Poor mousie! I understand that is what cats do, but it is not cute, and does not belong on CUTE overload!

oh noes

"'Phone bells ring, can't you hear them,
Papers piled, can't you see them
I'd work if I might,
Can't stop watching the sight,
I'm looking at a kitteh wonderland.

Kit pictures in a collage,
In my heart they will now lodge,
A better love song,
You can't take along,
I'm looking at a kitteh wonderland.

Meg posted this on CuteOverload, now
It's a web site of no small renown

She'll ask, 'Are you staring?'
I'll say, 'No ma'am!
Just wish I had a kitteh
Of my own.'

It's true; I'll conspire,
Of this dream, I don't tire
I walk unafraid,
And stage a cat raid,
Soon I'll have my kitteh wonderland.

I pretend that I own all the kittehs,
Constant purrs make a delicious sound
I'd have lots of fun with all the kittehs,
Till real life comes to bring me down.

The day's pace can be killing,
The work load - it gets chilling
But we frolic and play, the Overload way,
Looking at a kitteh wonderland."

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 09:31 AM

Whoa ... *goggle eyes*

And as for the mouse ... it's part of a cat's natural diet. Now if I, a vegetarian, would look at a picture of a non-vegetarian dish and start yelling "That is NOT tasty! That's cruel! Poor chicken/ cow/ fish!" I bet you'd waste no time in fleecing me and call me bigoted. So it goes with a cat - eating a mouse, its natural prey, is a part of a cat's identity. I admit I don't find it appetizing and I definitely feel sad for the mouse. But that doesn't make the cat any less cute.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 09:38 AM

Dear "Um Folks Teri"....."That's part of what cats do..." AND??

They take a dump a few times a day too, i don't want to see that either.

That pic is not cute at all. And you are warped if you think it does.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 09:42 AM

My fave is the oranj kitty in the top row - he looks like he's about to sneeze!!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 09:45 AM

This is fantastic!

As for this "OMG! Cats eat mice!?!?!" commentroversy -pictures of people in mid-chew aren't all that flattering, either. This holiday season, remember to keep the cameras away from the dinner table.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 09:52 AM

Methinks Meg enjoys "discussions." :)

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 10:00 AM

THANK YOU, Meg, for this collage and for everything you do to keep some of us together and functional (note: I didn't say "sane") on a daily basis.

Upon seeing Meg's post, this was the first thing that crossed my mind:

And this was my second thought:

Thanks for the wallpaper, Meg!

Methinks the "OMG bad kitty ate mousie nooooo" people could edit the pic and paste this
over Le Très Offending CatEatMousie square.

As for me, yes, I will edit the picture, but over Le Très Offending CatEatMousie square I will paste an equally controversial Chats Et Poitrines. ;-D
(Was my French correct?)

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 11:10 AM

eee! it even has Longcat and Bikecat! :D

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 11:22 AM

My first reaction to the mouse was "Eww!", and then I got over it. That's what cats do. There is nothing cruel or immoral about it.

It's the kitteh wearing specs in the top row that cracks me up.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 11:24 AM

My fave pic is Gymnastic Kitty at bottom left corner.

Okay, I likes them all, heh.
'Xcept for CatEatingMousie pic, because I also like mousies a lot.
CatEatingMousie does not offend me, it just makes me somewhat sad for the mousie.

But yes, that is how things happen in the real world. Le sigh.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 11:42 AM

My desktop is so kitter-ific now! Whee!

Helpful hint: if you don't like the mouse pic, you can easily arrange your icons to cover it up.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 11:55 AM

Mr. LT likes Mouse Mouf Cat too. And we <3 first row, far right marmie&white, as well as the non-edited one right below.

I see no torties! Calicos, but no torties!

Overall rating: two squees up.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 12:13 PM

Oh and +1 and ^5 to Aubrey for her purrfectly seasonal song!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 12:14 PM

There is "nothing cruel or immoral about" a flea covered feral rat feeding on rotting garbage either, but i doubt that'll show up here...

We all know animal nature...we all know "what animals do"...apparently we don't all think it is appropriate for a site titled "Cute Overload."

As far as seeing it and getting over it...we probably would if, whenever one person says "oh, i don't think that's cute" they didn't get bombarded by 10 different Cute Overlordian's screaming "NUFF...People...Get Over IT...It happens in nature...That's what they do..BLAH...Blah...blah..." or have "The Mod" step in...

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 12:33 PM

Well said Egroft...

I guess it's also weird to post cute hammies, gerbils, and the occasional mouse on this site, but also show a mouse being eaten(possibly).

Would you like to see a beautiful large animal of some kind eating a kitten or a puppy? Probably not. But that is "nature" too.

And no one should really get riled up about the "commentroversy" this time since it's the site owner who planted this particular seed in everyone's heads.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 01:01 PM

Ya know, meg could've put a couple of cats 'n' racks in the collage instead, and the commentary rate would've been over 100 by now. You're not trying, people!!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 01:11 PM

.....and petty instigators like dear ole Bats...."Ya know, meg could've put a couple of cats 'n' racks in the collage instead, and the commentary rate would've been over 100 by now. You're not trying, people!!"

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 01:17 PM

What I love about it? I see a new kitteh I didn't see before every time I look at it! ANd, it completely camouflages my desktop icons, yay!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 01:21 PM

I set this as my desktop, and it gave me good motivation to clean up my desktop, so I could see all the kittehs. Also, because I couldn't find any of my icons. :p

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 01:29 PM

Bravo Aubrey!! *wanders away humming "Kitteh Wonderland"*

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 01:37 PM

Not Cute. I'm going back to the baby squirrel.

Check Please
 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 03:08 PM

What's the deal with levitating cat in the middle, right above potty marmie? How did he get into that position, even with help?

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 03:46 PM

Hmmmmm...I see what you mean, LT. I took a closer look and now think that the yeems of the other kitteh are actually creating a type of vacuum, where no gravity exists.

The counter yeems of the levitating kitteh don't seem to help.

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 04:00 PM

Lookee! It's the 'watching you masturbate' cat!

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 04:30 PM

Would be nicer without the photoshopped smiling cat on the top right corner.

Fake cuteness. :(

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 05:02 PM

lurkertype, they're obviously ninja kitties, gosh

 |  Dec 22, 2006 at 05:29 PM

Very cute. Would someone possibly be able to do the same thing, only with bird pictures?? You would have my forever gratitude and admiration! It would be cheep!!! (get it?? "Cheep"???? *****slays self*****) :^)
