Hang on tight, Bunny lovers

It has come to our* attention that several good peeps on from Flickr's Bunny Lovers Unite pool have lost their buns over the weekend.

It's always hard to lose a pet—especially a precious, soft, snorgly bun. Even when that bun shows her "miniature disapproval", she's still a sweetheart.

Here's to you and your wonderful pets, let's hope they're all snuggling in that great rabbit warren in the sky...

Tobias F., thanks for the bunneries.

RIP little buns... and a big snorgle to all the parents who lost a loved bun.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 06:24 AM

My own dear buns - Sable and Blossom - are over the rainbow bridge. I like to think they are running thru fields of rye grass (their fave), binking and digging.

Eep! High alert!

And so sorry to the bun lovers who have lost theirs...losing a pet is never happy :(

Oh, and begging for bananas - never saw anything like it. Sitting up on their hind feet, begging for a banana...

Oh man. That's so sad! Condolences to everyone who lost their bunnies!

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 06:45 AM

Notice the bed sheets bun is on. If you turn your head sideways, can't you imagine that you've just woken up and bun bun is saying, "Oh, you're awake. Let's go frolic."

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 06:59 AM

Huh... this little hoomph looks like a baby version of our Willow (the Pillow).

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 06:59 AM

spoony earses! Love the wee gray bun.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 07:12 AM

Did anyone check out the dissaproving bun site? Stern buns make my morning.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 07:17 AM

Well that's just great: Thanks for linking to the "secret bunny burrow" page. Now I have to close my office door, before anyone sees my eyes misting over.

And I'm not even a bunny person. In fact, the fear of losing a bun prolly means I never WILL be a bunny person.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 07:21 AM

I can't stop looking at this picture. It's so perfectly proportioned, it's mesmerizing. It goes beyond simple cuteness to adorable perfection. Bravo!

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 07:26 AM

Wow -- click on the pic and the large version is *really* large (plus it's called "flufferkins.jpg")!

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 07:29 AM

aww, that is so sad. snorgling to all the pet owners who have lost a bun recently!
"spooney ears", that is great! the disaproving bunnies are now my new subject of converstion for the water cooler today. i cant wait to gather the confused and worried looks at my mentioning of their 'tude.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 07:35 AM

Thanks Theo. Your comment about the large version made me realize I could use Flufferkins as my desktop image.

Even with all the adorable bun photos last week, this is the one that reminds me of Nina, the "emergency" bunny we snuck into the dorms when I was in college. Flufferkins is bunny perfection, and indecently snorgable.

Condolences to those who've lost their bunny companions. I dread the day I may have to do without Ballou.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 07:39 AM

Oh, my...it's so perfectly proportioned - the tiny li'l paws are killing me!

*iz ded from cute!*

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 07:58 AM

Those ears! *Whine* I want to go home and snuggle with MY bunnies and look at pics of my late bun.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 08:07 AM

My condolences to whoever lost a bun over the weekend. :(

The bun in the picture is mighty sweet. He looks ready for action!

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 08:15 AM

Bunnies are perfect, especially this little fellow. Sympathies to all the peeps who have lost that little bit of perfection in their lives--for now. :-(

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 08:16 AM

The giant little bunny who could! Thanks, t-o.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 08:37 AM

OK, I might've gone a little overboard here...

(at this point I just had to say "enough" -- since there are almost 5,000 of 'em to sift through)

E.C. -- you're all over that group, eh? Can't say I'm surprised.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 08:40 AM

I'm gonna get myself fired here...but I'll go down happy!

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 08:47 AM

teho, I'm hardly "all over," but I do like the folks and their bun-rabs just fine. Can't help noticing, though, that *you* seem a tad mesmerized by the blinding cuteness there. ;-)

And Flufferkins is quite da bunnery...!

Awww..... pretty baby... my husband actually bought me a stuffed bunny just to satisfy my desire for a bun... one day I say.... one day I TOO will have my very own REAL bunny!!!

Quick question... did anyone else fall in love with bunnys from books? I absolutely LOVE the Velveteen Rabbit and Bunnicula from when I was a child and I wondered if others started their bunny love affair this way too?

Awww what perfect alert ears!

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 10:16 AM

'Rabbit Hill' and 'The Tough Winter' for me. Wonderful books, and beautifully illustrated (by Robert Lawson - who also wrote them). I still read 'em.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 10:24 AM

Awwww that is a sweet bunbun!

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 10:43 AM

Stuh-op. If you have not visited the "disapproving rabbits," you must do so. I have found my bun soul mate: Hazel, the rabbit who disapproved of Christmas.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 11:03 AM

that is the perfect bunny. perfect.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 11:04 AM

Isn't she, k!!! She looks like she's at a bunny show ready to win first prize. Are there bunny shows? And are they televised?! :D

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 11:16 AM

M-definitely! Peter Rabbit and kith and kin an' such. (pssst...my closest friends call me "bunny." What an honor!)

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 11:44 AM

Just wanted to add my condolences to the people who have lost their bunnies (many *hugs* to ya) and say a big fat AWWW! to the little grey bun above.

I feel for the parents who lost their buns this weekend. Such an awful, heartbreaking experience.

Re: the bun above -- adorable. I wonder how much smothering (face smooshing) he'd put up with before pouting and turning his back on me.

As for rabbit books, my dad bought me a book when I was a kid called, "The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes." Awesome, awesome book written by a dad for his daughter back in 1939. It's a tail (sorry) of empowerment in a fuzzy form. A classic. It really influenced me. It's on my bookshelf, and one day will become a tattoo.

Um, I should probably add that the "Country Bunny" author was Dubose Heyward, the man behind Porgy and Bess, among other things.

Awww, sweet bunny! I lost my bun last month :(, but best friend's kitty brought in an uninjured domestic baby bun yesterday. Bunny karma :)

I'm from Bunny Lovers Unite. Sadly, I lost my rabbit last Thursday. Thanks to all of you for leaving such nice comments.

Julie, Kris--my heart goes out to you.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 05:43 PM

Such a greedy weekend, to take so many buns.

A while ago, friend of mine lost a very beloved dog. I advised him to - as soon as he felt able - get to the pound! FORTHWITH!

He did, found a new dog-friend and hasn't regretted it since. I always thought - as one who can't keep pets, though dearly would like to - that the best justice one can do to the memory of a lost pet is to adopt another.

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 07:24 PM

Oh aiyeeeee!!!! Such a cutie cutesy cute bunny!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am suffering an ACS (Acute Cutecongestion Syndrome)!!!!

 |  Jun 28, 2006 at 07:32 PM

I'm so sorry for everyone who has lost a bunny. I'm sure they were all loved very much, and had great lives. I just lost my GP, I still go to his cage to feed him every morning. It's hard to break those habits. I agree with AUBREY though, the best thing to do when you are ready, is to save anothers life, in memory of your friend. One of their little friends will certainly appreciate it.
