Band Practice is Canceled Again

"Don't get me wrong, fellas, I really like the direction you're taking here.  You've got a whole Counting-Crows-meet-The-Banana-Splits-with-a-hint-of-Philip-Glass thing going, and it's very progressive, I respect that ..."

(More like fingers-meet-ears-with-a-hint-of-cerebral-hemorrhaging, frankly.)

"... but darn the luck, I'm behind on my sleep, and I really need to get a few hours of catnapping in before bedtime, so if you could just close the door quietly on your way out, I'd really appreciate it, thanks."

(Works every time, heh, heh...)

That's one pearl of wisdom, Jenna M.

Cat's dislike for crappy garage band is beyond measure. He's complained to the staff. His disapproval has been noted.

The cutest thing about this is the blanket they put in the drum for the kitty to sleep on.

"a whole Counting-Crows-meet-The-Banana-Splits-with-a-hint-of-Philip-Glass thing..."

This actually sounds fantastic! I hope the kitty's not a heavy sleeper, cos I really want to hear that now.

Actually guys, they put stuff in the bottom of the drum to kill the reverb and deaden the sound. Kitty was just taking advantage of a serendipitously perfect lair.

Query: Is that a bebeh kitteh on top of the mamah kitteh? Do I see tiny earses silhouetted in the mama's Axis of Snorgling in pic#1? can someone find out? If that's the case, then no wonder practice got canceled again! It's Naptime!

Hon Glad---heheheheh. I got it.

Anner, you did not imagine the Banana Splits. I saw them perform live when I was a kid, or so my parents say.

And I've long suspected that cats don't really dig music. Mine never appreciate my singing.

One banana, two banana, three banana, four...

Banana Splits did have animated parts to their show (like Gulliver's Travels), some mixed live and animated shows, (The Adventures of Huck Finn), and then comedy segments featuring the guys in animal costumes. I know - sounds completely redonk even as I write this up, and I used to love this show.

BTW, hope kitty doesn't get a headache when he wakes up.

I've heard OF the Banana Splits, but I don't know if I've ever heard them... now I'm curious.

@Boomer's Babysitter: Hanna-Barbera did release an album of music used on "The Banana Splits." Much of it was re-released in 1995 on an limited-edition album titled "We're the Banana Splits/Here Come the Beagles."

Banana Splits:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2se2I70CJ0

Designed for 9 year old minds in the late 1960s by the good folks at Hanna-Barbara and the psychedelically disturbing Sid and Marty Krofft. You have been warned.

[That... was HORRIFFIC. And pixellated. It goes a long way toward explaining Barney and Teletubbies, too... - Ed.]

The Bannana Splits were THE BEST ever! Totally cracked-out, 1970's perfect drug-induced child-scaring goodness.
They still run old episodes on the Boomerang channel, super late-night. Great for laughs, as it's just SOO 70's.

I personally loved Adventure Island, with super-young and super cute Jan-Michael Vincent. Hubba-hubba! The 2 Muskateers cartoon was a hoot, as well.

"The kitteh of the band is tired,
and his eyes are growing dim,
now he's sleeping in his
instrument,
there ain't no one just like him...
My life has been a poor attempt...
to understand his ways...
I dream that I'm an instrument that the rockin'
kitteh plays...

The real measure of the Splits influence-- notice that that "Tra-la la" tune is the SAME TUNE as the chorus of "Buffalo Soldiers."

I love the "Don't even think about it" expression on kitty's face in the first pic. tee hee!
