"We thought they'd be completely scrambled, but they're not," said one expert. "There is great chunks of the human genome which is sitting right there in the kangaroo genome." When I saw that picture for some reason my mind went to Different Strokes (which is currenting showing on an "oldies but goodies" channel in my area) and the "Whatcha lookin' at, Willis?" look from Arnold. Considering that we have a common ancestor with chimpanzees about 5 million years ago, 150 million years sounds pretty far removed indeed. And I'm not really sure I would trust an "expert" who says "There is great chunks." Or one who thinks it's interesting that we share a common ancestor with kangaroos, when you remember that all life on the planet shares a common ancestor.
That said, this is a cutie joey and I want him.

This doesn't come as a huge surprise to me, writing a dissertation on breastfeeding I found out that kangaroo milk is the most similar to human breastmilk....
I actually think the roo kind of looks like Snoopy. I mean, that's a Snoopy type of expression, when he's acknowledging his own cleverness to us. Is that weird? I just don't want to talk about beer or breast milk.
