Damselfly Pr0n!
You know, you'd think that insect porn would be all sinister and nasty-like (heck, if it involved Praying Mantises, the "money shot" would include decapitation), but there's something graceful about these mating dragonflies—almost romantic, in a way that's hard to explain. I can't quite put my finger on the reason, though...

I believe a "bleen" is in order.
[HURRRRRRRRRRR! *thpppt* - Ed.]
awwww, it's lurve!
How ...erm... sweet!
Silly Nom Tom-- it's a HEART!!
awww they <3 each other!!!
Well, this is a freaky way to start the day.
Aww, how lovely!
These are damselflies, not dragonflies, which makes it even cuter!
At first I was like...
"Aw, a heart. Cute. Now, what am I looking at here?? Such a bizarre lil dragonfly. Uh, wait... there's two sets of wings. Um, hrmm... OH, OMG, OKAY!!!"
hahaha
eeeuuuwwww:-P
aw, that's sweet... even bugs can be romantic...
You see, when you see dragonflies/damselflies flyin around in the air all hitched together, they're not mating yet - they're just involved in aerial foreplay!
Definitely damselflies. And I think they fly around that way, don't they? Mating on the fly, literally. Sort of their own mile high club?
Damselflies and dragonflies are beautiful, such amazing colors and iridescence, and beautiful wings as well.
Omgitsproncoveryoureyes!
Won't something think of the kittehs? A NSFK tag would be appropriate here, no?
*takes off sarcasm hat*
I didn't know that, pounce, I always learned they mated while flying. Do they really not mate till they settle down?
Or, you could say someONE. If you've had more coffee than me. Sorry 'bout that.

It's very cool. If you work in a beehive or ant colony, I suppose it's NSFW.
I've always liked dragonflies. They're neat looking, dainty, and they eat mosquitos which makes them one of the good bugs in my book. I especially like the blue ones. Cool pic.
I find this photo disturbing. Please remove it! Dragonfly porn? On Friday?
Remember: Wings fold back = damselfly.
Fly United?
Remember: dragonflies eat mosquitoes. So, that's another reason to like them.
Also, my rant: when will people stop using "bleen" in their first post? God, you look like a loser when doing that.
[Agreed, and agreed. That *used* to be the whole point, in fact... - Ed.]
This should not be in the Gee-ross! section.. This is so romantic and beautiful! It almost make me cry happy romantic tears! There is nothing odd or gross about this! I'm going to wallpaper it!
I got a picture of them a month ago... it's here!

Kama Sutra, man!
SurfZone -- that you did. Nice shot, too.

Where was your photo taken? What part of the world?
Is this a Damsel in distress or just having a damn good time?
Juno -- ha!
Wow, Jim N! That link is great!
Awww!!
Beeyootiful buggie booty call!
So pretty! Nature is amazing.
<3
:'(
Jezebel - Friday is the perfect day for damselfly porn! And please note that the irony between your comment and screen name is not lost on me!
Either way, I can't wait for someone to say "I can't believe my kids look at this site, now I actually have to talk to them about sex!"
Much nicer that that show by Isabella Rosellini- which seriously disturbed me.
[Bow chik-a-bow-bow...]
*in deep Barry White voice* Oh yeah...
Heh, the Trojan side bar ad is particularly apropos.
[AAAARGH, contextual ad targeting! I shudder to think what they'll turn into after 8:00 PM... - Ed.]
When I was in the park the other day, a dragonfly landed on my leg. It was emerald gren and at least 7 inches long, so pretty <3
LOL@Juno!
Wonder what this RCF has in store ....
Heh, nomtom said "money shot"
Great picture. Dragon/Damselflies are so pretty, from far away, when they're close up I feel like they are going to eat me. Yes, I know, I have issues.
Arghhhh! Now I have to talk to my girls
about damsel fly sex!!! And just when it's
time for Riley B to be spayed!
Sarc/off
Pheas -- it's Friday already??
Yeah, other people mentioned it on here, but the reason it's so beautifully romantic is because it's a heart! Now if only I can figure out how to do that posish in my bedroom...
They come together on gossamer wings, catching the sun's rays
But, unfortunately, in the end, the male of the species pays!
Money shot
*giggles*
PHWOARRRRRR!
*does ladylike pelvic thrust*
"Tilt your head, genius"
LOLOLOLOL
"And that's why birds do it,
bees do it,
Even damselflies do it!
Let's do it,
let's fall in love!"
Now I have Cole Porter stuck in my head.
I hate to burst anyone's romantic bubble, but I really think it's just a damselfly molting in an interesting way.
The "bottom" fly is just too pale, especially on the right side, and the eyes look funny. JMHO
I can see where you're coming from, Cat-astrophe, but surely a damselfly would molt only its skin. It wouldn't be molting its wings and head, too, would it? (And do damselflies eat their mates after...um...doing it?)
I don't get it. What does "bleen" mean and why should one refrain from using it in one's first post? I looked it up in Urban Dictionary and didn't find anything that made sense. Can someone please explain it?
Jennie Mello, that is exactly what I was thinking!
"If I were a dragonfly, I would make love in the heart position...."
