What is up with EVERY pet being named 'Milo'?!

Milo this, Milo that, what is the matter with you People, always naming your pets "Milo"?

I get thousands of emails a day with the titles like "Guess what? Milo pooped!" and "Milo has a toehawk LOOK!" and "I chose a unique name for my Kitteh guess what it is!?"

But then THIS Milo came along. In all his stubbular glory.

Thank you.

Thank you, Jen C. Thank you.

Adorabuhls. That one in the background is getting ready to cause some trouble. I can just tell.

Oh, I'm so ashamed. I missed the baby in the back. It was the Evil Ubermilo - he stole my soul.

he's all, "you woke me up for that?"

I call matching head tilts!

I had a pet parakeet named Milo about 20 years ago. Maybe I was one of the first? I named him after the character in "The Phantom Tollbooth."

Sweet, sweet marmie littermates!!! I think my insulin pump just burned itself out!

(I wonder how much the pet naming trend has to do with the puppy-dog eyes of a certain Mr. Ventimiglia?)

I luve the fur-halo! And of course, the mini-Milo in the background. What's *his* story? ;)

Theresa

Remember the movie Milo & Otis about the marmie kitten and pug puppy that went off on adventures? That's probably my marmies are named Milo!!

Background kitteh: "Yeah, we'll see who's the popular one. You just wait." *freaky Renfield laugh*

Erebella

i am insanely jealous that jen C has one sunlite marmie kitten (with head tilt), and then ANOTHER poser-marmie (with extremely experienced head tilt action) kitteh in the background.
too much for one hooman i think...

 |  Aug 12, 2008 at 07:38 AM

He is Milo, descended from heaven to grace us with his stubbular cuteness. *harps strumming*

Meanwhile, evil-twin-Milo lurks in the shadows in the background.

chanpon
 |  Aug 12, 2008 at 07:40 AM

Teh kitteh in the background is actually a future-echo of teh kitteh in the foreground. He's looking around to see if anyone's noticed that he's about to hop on top of that piece of furniture where the fishtank is, under the window, and hopes that his anerabuhls apparition in the foreground will distract you long enough for him to achieve this.

These are marmies, people - if they appear not to be up to something it's because they're thinking about getting up to something. Don't be fooled by the head-tilt and the supplicant-eyes - tehy are eeeeeeeeeeeevils!

I enjoy the foreground Milo as well as the background Milo. Milo= codeword for kitteh that steals yer soul.

There's nothing so odd about that. Kemal Atatürk had an entire menagerie called Abdul.

How about the other little one? What's his/her name?

Elanor
 |  Aug 12, 2008 at 08:35 AM

Personally I think that Milo is an excellent name for a kittie but an even better one for oh, say, an eight-year-old black Lab. Whose middle name would be McGregor, as in the farmer in Peter Rabbit. Just saying.

Elanor --
FOREGROUND: Milo
BACKGROUND: Bleenous de Milo

(if you don't get this, don't blame yourself; it's entirely my fault)

Theo

Most likely they are all named Milo because of the one of the cutest puppy/kitty movies of all time:

Milo and Otis

NTMTOM - which explains why anyone named Eric is automatically known as "Thearfabee".

Well I was gonna say something clever but then I was done in by the Monty Python Routine Hehehehe

Not to mention the play on Names ala Teho
and
Chanpon are we sure that the evil twin isn't the kitty in the sunbeam just disguising himself.. See Tony James Observation about Marmies and their middle name of Trubs!

Not that I am an Antipodean, but Milo is an Australian milk chocolate drink.
This Milo has eyes that burn into your soul. Oh noes, I revealed far too much embarassing detail to the last all seeing kitty.

Hon Glad
 |  Aug 12, 2008 at 09:39 AM

I do know someone who has a child named Milo. I can make an exception in this case with a kitteh-face like that.

"Bleenous de Milo" - Oh, Teho, you rascal!

ThreeCatNight
 |  Aug 12, 2008 at 09:41 AM

And I thought we were so original naming our dog Milo! It was after Titus Annius Milo, an ancient Roman assassin.

Jane
 |  Aug 12, 2008 at 09:46 AM

Yep! He's definitely a Milo!!

All he's missing is a pug-nosed pup and a nest full of baby birds to swat at to tell them to "SHUT UP!!! I'M TRYING TO SLEEEEEP!!!"

Juniper Jupiter
 |  Aug 12, 2008 at 10:07 AM

hmmm, he looks like the cat who steals your thoughts that was posing about here the other day.

Remember, MILO spelled backwards is Olim.

Speaking of which, can't we have some Olympic kitties and doggies? Especially swimming. I'm pretty into it this year.

catloveschanel
 |  Aug 12, 2008 at 10:34 AM

I guess no one is naming their pets Milo after the robot Woody Allen briefly portrays in "Sleeper."

Good Gracious at the cute!

Theo

NTMTOM, you just made my day. I'd like a license for my pet cat, Eric.

Decca
 |  Aug 12, 2008 at 11:05 AM

Hunhh. The internet is a strange and wonderful place. All my struggling and here it turns out there's this whole SOCIETY of weirdos who already know what "bleen" means. Though, they do spell it funny...

Decca, I promise you: There is no such thing as a bloody cat license.

When I was a young'un we were too poor to bleen.

Ah well, back to work.

Perhaps kitty in the background has been naughty and must sit in the corner for punishment. I'll take them both, thanks!

NTMTOM - there bloody is and I got one, so there. You can't catch me out on that one.

Tony James

Look, it's Peeps like you what cause unrest.

Theo
 |  Aug 12, 2008 at 01:25 PM

A) I loved - LOVED - The Adventures of Milo and Otis..."Gonna take a walk outside today, gonna see what we can find today..."

B) Theo - ha ha ha!!

C) The one in the background just makes me think of "Harry Potter"...when Hermione has the Time Turner and they have to go back in time and you see both of them but the past version can't see the future version? Anyone know what I'm talking about? No? *Sigh*

D) Um...I don't know what "bleen" means...I think I missed when that originated. Anyone want to fill me in?

I named my first kitty after Milo Aukerman.

And did you know that "Milo & Otis" is a Japanese film?
Honto ni!!
The original title is Koneko Monogatari ("kitten tale")
