The (Cat) Thinker

Interviewer: Mr. Kitteh, what are you thinking about?

Kitteh: I can't decide which one it is... amy I hungry or nappy? Hungry... or... nappy. THAT is the question.

Melissa M., I think it's both. In that order.

Not to be disgusting, but he looks like he needs something to read, if you get my drift.

Wow. Yes, the swishing tail underneath the legs is great, and so are the modesty paws.

Theresa
 |  Jul 03, 2008 at 04:39 AM

So adorable. The swishy tail, the modesty paws, the look on his face all equal amazingly cute....even if he almost makes think of a kitty Al Bundy.

This totally reminds me of my grandfather! Hilarious! Looks like he needs a cup of coffee.

LOL @ Carol. Sure looks like he might really be wondering, "Number 1 or Number 2?" :D

cowdoctor
 |  Jul 03, 2008 at 05:16 AM

And I thought my kitty was strange! Lol @ Butta. Tail swish and the look of "do you mind??" is hilarious. Great way to start off the last work day of the week!!

Mr. Kitteh has atrocious posture.

 |  Jul 03, 2008 at 05:38 AM

That tail swishing!! He seems irritated that his human finds him amusing!! (of course cats NEVER like to be laughed at!!)

"What'll I wear today, khakis or blue jeans? I can't make up my mind!"

snoopysnake
 |  Jul 03, 2008 at 05:53 AM

lol @ Babs. Exactly what I was thinking.

To me, he looks like he's thinking, "I've seen the hairless monkeys sit like this, but I don't understand the appeal. Although it's not uncomfortable... zzz..."

[Personal request... could you please shorten your screen name? Maybe something like "NotSpozeta" etc.? Or, I dunno, "BeadGirl" possibly? - Ed.]

If one of my cats were doing that, and I walked into the bedroom, I would be convinced that he was plotting my demise.

Lonesome Joe Kitteh with the world on his furry little shoulders.
"Nice rug. But how do I tell her about the scoot marks?"

 |  Jul 03, 2008 at 06:11 AM

In our two cat house hold we say someone in this pose is having "cat thoughts". I myself spend much of my work day in the exact same posture with exactly the same lack of neural activity.

Thinker? I'm expecting an Adonis-like cat a la Rodan's masterpiece. All he reminded me of was some depressed old man who can't remember where he left his teeth.

Reminds me of the black Stoner Kitty who's appeared here.

he's thinking "What? Now what?"

Ray
 |  Jul 03, 2008 at 07:19 AM

@Ali, if one of my cats were doing that and I walked into the bedroon, I'd look around for the "PlayTom" magazine.

Theresa

God, I'm so hungover and my ass hurts. What the heck did I do last night? Oh, and by the way, whose bed is this?

Erebella
 |  Jul 03, 2008 at 07:51 AM

Eeee; that's called Buddha position!!! I wonder if the kitty is a straight-eared Scottish Fold. They're known for getting into such posishes.

My kitteh gets into Buddha when he's grooming his belleh and loses interest. :D

Cats are weird.

tracyFlick
 |  Jul 03, 2008 at 09:11 AM

Actually, this kitteh is demonstrating a modified position in the Fitzmaurice voice destructuring sequence. More active kitteh's will choose the modified half-plough, with the legs over the head, but this alternative still allows for the maximum of feeling in the back while constricting (though not, of course, REstricting) the muscles in the front. From here, kitteh can still initiate breath with release of the diaphragm and power his breath while focusing on the immense space available for breath in the back of the lungs.

Seems like a highbrow kitten. Maybe he was thinking about the classic read from Jane Austin "Scents and Sensibility" or maybe some Dickens " A Tale of 2 Kitties" ....

catloveschanel
 |  Jul 03, 2008 at 09:43 AM

OMG...WHAT?? WHAT IS THAT KITTEH DOING?

I'm done. Just done. That's the cuteness forever.

Either an old man, possibly forlorn, possibly just crotchety, or a punished child sitting on the edge of the bed (the swishing tail can act like the child's feet swinging back and forth while he awaits timeout to be over).

my first thought was that this is the cat left home alone on Prom night wondering where in it's little kitty life it went wrong that Jimmy (or Jill) didn't want to go to the dance with them and mom's telling the kitty how special it is anyway.

Sit up straight kitteh. That slouching is bad posture.

he looks like he's had a tough day at work, and needs to decompress.

i think a sardine martini is in order.

Yum, jen! A sardini! Ganished with a little kitteh treat on a toothpick, natch. ;)

He kind of reminds me of a Kit Kat clock - except he is not smiling.
Poor kitty looks sad...
