One kitteh's struggle with BoxHab

Like all kittehs, Nelly was obsessed with boxes and refused to give them up. Thanks to the perserverance of her owner, VonFluffinstein, Nelly got through her challenges and is full recovery. She attends BA meetings everyday to stay straight.

One box day at a time, Barbarella A.

THank goodness I'm not the only one who talks and sings to their cat that way! LOL

One box at at time, Nelly. You can do it!

I think someone other than the lion-shaved cat needs professional help.

I think Nelly and Winston should get to know each other! Or can the world not handle that much grumpy cuteness (cute grumpiness)?

I'd be vexed and likely to skulk in a box if I'd been given such a haircut and was being sung to like that!

Is this the same lady who was trying to talk her cat out from under the bushes a while ago? (Wishing I was computer literate enough to do links.)

I'm sorry but the kitty needs a new hairstylist! :)

That puss is whack.

If I was that lady, I would not be stickin' my paw in there with Nelly.

Her other vids aren't as entertaining but she has a beautiful kitteh named Lugosi who is just as cray-geee.

Martha--
That was Alaska, with her charming English mum.

Are you being a little cheeky?"

rofl, the only reason that cat is lurking in the box is because it got a bad haircut! oh, a lion haircut on a cat is tff!

 |  Jul 20, 2008 at 02:59 PM

That's right. Alaska. Sounds like the same lady.
Maybe I'm just confused tho.

Martha in Washington
 |  Jul 20, 2008 at 03:01 PM

It loaded but would only play a few seconds at a time. You might think that her little singsong was annoying without pauses to load, or think, or stall, or whatever, but it was far more annoying with stops and starts. LOL @ Anonycat, however.

Maybe they bought a toaster just so Nelly could have the box. It's their way of saying, "Sorry about the lion do"?

I'm glad I got to see Nellie b/c I'm in withdrawal from lackawinnie. Winston, have you met Nellie?

woofysma
 |  Jul 20, 2008 at 04:02 PM

Hahah! I´m Nelly´s mummy here, and no I´m not the same lady with the gorgeous little Siamese "Alaska".

We (featured Nelly, her nemesis Lugosi and his twin brother Spider) live on a tropical island called Lanzarote and it´s HOT here right now, plus Nelly really doesn´t tolerate grooming (= torture!) too well - if you don´t believe me, there´s a video on our youtube channel with a demonstration on how she turns into a *monster* when being touched in the *wrong places* in particular (under the arms, inside of legs e.g.).

Anyways, that´s why she has a lion cut. And with her colouring, I think it´s *dead cute* cause she does look like a mini-lion. :D

Yes! Nelly and Winston, sittin' on a tree...

Their kittens would make disapproving bunnies look downright complacent!

Aww. I love cats in boxes. This afternoon, in spite of it being 80+ F in my apartment, I found my two kitties snuggled together (one "hugging" the other) inside a box I had been planning to break down.

I just didn't have the heart to take away their little love nest.

 |  Jul 20, 2008 at 05:05 PM

Pardon my ignorance, B von F, but where is Lanzarote?

Alexis
 |  Jul 20, 2008 at 05:08 PM

I, for one, love the haircut. Her tail is so Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz.

It's a good thing both Nelly and Winston are both fixed, b/c if they ever had kittens, the world would IMPLODE with floofy grumpyness, or grumpy floofiness, or whatevs.

Also LOL @ Anonycat. Good warning.

i think people who don't sing to their animals are the crazy ones.

honestly- making up songs and singing them to your critters is truly one of life's greatest pleasures. totally.

Hey. an addiction to boxes isn't hurting anyone! Maybe if we decriminalize the use of boxes we can regulate them better, or at least tax them.... oh never mind.

You know what I say to that singing? I say "no, no, no!"

At a certain point ,it's kind of uncomfortable, like I imagine the original production of "The Connection" was by the Living Theatre in the 1950s. (That's right, peeps, a Judith Malina/Julian Beck reference -- I have now out-obscured everyone).

But really, we shouldn't make fun of kittehs who need boxhab.

I love the mood change at 1.28-1.31.

Kitteh: "WHY I TELLS YA, the government its run by retiles from the planet Zog, try to take my box away, why I once met the pope and he told me boxes were a source of gold, gold to fight the space reptiles...."

*owner pets him*

"AND I SAID.....ooh, petting, thats nice...NO! George Bush and his reptilian army can't get me trying to steal my box, why I oughta....."

its a good thing Nelly got outside to reality.
but i'm pretty sure by the end Nelly would have eaten the box anyway.

Boxhab might be important to this kitty.

However, I imagine that I too would try to stay in my box if someone cut off all my beautiful hair, no matter the reason!

No, no, no.

Beautiful face, though!

Love the lilting voice singing!! Who doesn't love an accent???

Poor Nelly!!! I imagine she has a similar but more haughty accent than her mother. "Do you MIND!? I am TRYING to enjoy this box. Now take your infernal singing and the stupid camera and ..."
(Now all I can hear is Stewie...)

Kris
 |  Jul 21, 2008 at 08:32 AM

seems like Barbarella is an enabler- how's a kitteh supposed to do any good in boxhab if they live with someone who KEEPS GIVING THEM BOXES ! AND PETTSES TOO! !
its just not right.
