I agree with fuguemonkey. Very eloquently put. Also, for a split second I thought that kitten was FLOATING. Then I realized he was holding on to a bottle. Regardless, it's still a great photo.

And I second (third) the thought about Meg (and Theo!). After the recent tragedy in my life, CO has been a great refuge of joy. Every post and the enthusiasm of the community here is a real lift in my day. Thanks to you ALL.

Its not that the kitteh is holding onto the bottle, if you look closely the hand of the 'bean that is not holding the bottle is infact, holding onto the scruff of the neck of poor hungry kitteh. So is this kitteh desperately holding onto the bottle...is its bean trying to prevent it from falling?

petsareforlife
 |  May 22, 2008 at 12:16 AM

I'm hoping the intent was to be supportive incase of a fall and not to be mean....either way its obvious by the big tummy that the kitteh is loved. :)

So unbelievably cute! Maybe she is just being held that way for the picture? I mean, how can you not cuddle a little baby like that?

Puddy-tat is being held by the shoulder and front leggie, under the armpit, not the scruff of the neck.

*BREAKING NEWS*

Scientists have proven that snorgling into the belly of this baby kitteh cures cancer, heart disease, arthritis, the plague, tooth decay, and the blues.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled work day.

TW
 |  May 22, 2008 at 06:13 AM

Wow, my pic made it to cute overload!!! My daughter was holding the kitten like that (under front leg and around kitty's back) for a couple of reasons: 1. Kittens that age claw your hands like crazy while they are trying to hold on the the bottle (I have newfound respect for mama cats). 2. My daughter (who is feeding the kitten) had just been peed on by the previous kitten while feeding him.

That kitteh alone is just too beautiful, but I didn't know she could fly, too. All in the name of milk!

Juno, I was about to write the same thing!
Cute kitty.
I'm fairly new to the posting, but I have been looking at CO for a year or so, I guess. Now that I'm a fairly regular poster, I really do enjoy the comments and the photos. Lots of times the comments enhance Meg's already brilliant titles and mouseovers! And Theo is just excellent at providing great editorial additions. Could it get any better????? :o)

I've bottle-fed a number of kittens, and never seen them do that. Quite amazing.I have no children, but I think that bottle-feeding a kitten is just beautiful :)

Torties and their calico sisters are all VERY DETERMINED kittehs, which is well and cutely demonstrated here.

And last - sweeeeeeeet kitteh!! Want!

Love the kitteh--angel or devil, it's all the same.

Linda6166, your story had me rolling with laughter. Your poor peed-on daughter!

And everyone else--I share the love. Forgive me if I've mentioned this before, but I "detox" my system with CO before and after reading all my political blogs a few times a day. It's like exfoliating the cynicism from my soul. Meg and Teho, you do great work in the world.

debg
 |  May 22, 2008 at 03:26 PM

I have just come from my fourth funeral in six weeks; two young adults, on elderly woman and a stillborn child.

If CO didn't exist, I'd be in very bad shape right now. But beauty, fun and lighthearted humor do still exist in the world, and I can always find it here. Thank you, all.

Katrina
 |  May 22, 2008 at 04:22 PM

I agree with all the love. Had (relatively minor) surgery couple weeks ago so was home for days.. WITH NO INTERNETS and no qute to perk me up. It was awful. The only best thing about coming back to work was catching up on the c.o. posts. THANK you to Meg, Theo and anyoen else involved. And all the kitnz, pupz, bunz, or whoever that do qte things for us to enjoy. And photo-takers-of-same.

 |  May 22, 2008 at 07:15 PM

Squee over the kitten and LOL at Linda 6166 explanaische of why this kittingk is being held this way.
Meg & Teho, I too want to remind you I luvs you and CO. The new job has me working HARD everyday helping my ladies with cancer and I cannot get on the site during the day. Then at home, babysitting our 4 month old grandson makes it hard to catch up.
So it's nice to have a minnit to come back to CO and see gorgeous kittens and the peeps.
Thanks, M&T for your wonderful public service in tikkun olam (repairing the world).

I think she's being supported by her 'bean to demonstarte how she won't let go of the bottle, nohow noway, even if she's six feet off the ground. Look at how far the teat is into her mouth.

Also lots of luv to the other peeps who are sending the loves out in this post .... I'm feeling all fuzzy....

bookmonstercats
 |  May 23, 2008 at 04:15 AM

silly me, I assumed kitty was being wriggly in excitement to get the bottle (the baby version of Dancity Kitty we get around the food bowl here). NOthing like trying to hold a squirmy kitty and get the bottle.

I second, third, and fifty-six what everyone else is saying about the good people of C.O.(M&T but also the commentpeeps). Luuuurve is in the air!
It occurred to me recently that we should nominate Meg and Theo for a Nobel Peace Prize - was surprised at the thought at first but then it didn't seem so farfetched at all. Think about it! :))
And yay for calico bitsies!
