It kind of looks like it came out of a Dr. Seuss book, but with much cuter eyes than most of the Dr. Seuss characters.

I was having a pity party before I saw this. Now I just want to nuzzle the warm earling while looking into the large moist eye... Closing my eyes and smelling the warm snuggleness of it all...

The unholy marriage of antelope, camel, and tapir, perhaps?

What a cootie-patootie. I'll take a prehensile-lipped-kiss too.

These are tiny antelopes -- little bite-size snacks. With good reason, they're incredibly nervous and very fleet of foot. So I'm amazed to see a picture of one in sharp focus. Wow. When I saw them in the wild, even my eyes couldn't catch them in such good focus.

You have to show the tiny dikdik feets. They are oh-so-cute and delicate.

I think I will have to study the dikdik more closely to come to a conclusion on his cute/proshness.

Hey well the dikdik might be cute, but I met one in person once at a Kangaroo ranch near me and the people that work there pull a trick on visitors. They tell you to touch your finger to the dik dik's nose. And when you do he snots out this black goo all over your finger.. gross..

Awwww... Mr. Dik McDikersons... I can picture heem slowly sipping out of a teeny cup o' tea with those dainty leeps!

@Liz, the photographer said she saw it in a zoo--the blurriness comes from defocusing the cage.

I love dikdiks! I was once licked by a dik dik at the Denver zoo!

seao
 |  Apr 29, 2008 at 09:17 AM

Yes, Meg, if possible, may we have some serious sproingage sometime? Uppy-downny sproinging with or without food, just the sproingage- dikdik sproingage would be nice, but ocelot or another aminul would do, too.
ThanksThanks for the dikdik!

All these comments and still nobody's making dikdik jokes?

Nottmi
 |  Apr 29, 2008 at 10:51 AM

Nottmi, they used them all up on Tapirs and their Big Schnozzles. Though the Dik Dik is unusually equipped in the schnozzle department as well.

The mohawk! And I'll bet when he eats, his little nose goes all "schnorble, schnorble" as it grasps little green plants... OMG.

He must be bitty as well - double cuteness points!

Looks like the Dik Dik just looked in a mirror and realized he looks like Jimmy Durante.

When I am reincarnated, I want to come back as a big one of these, so people will say: "Look at that big dikdik".

[I don't think they come in "big", K. Besides, they keep telling me size doesn't matter... - Ed.]

Sorry to go back to this after so long but...Yes, Katie Kat, I was actually licked by a dik dik at the Denver zoo. The tiny little guy walked right up to the fence, so I stuck my finger out to his wriggling little schnozzle and he licked me! I shall never forget heem!
