So where are the little tassle things?

...what?

Yubi Shines
 |  Mar 19, 2008 at 10:48 PM

Also, you may be more right than you think, Cauliflower. The beer cans and furniture look like chewy gummies.

Five stars!

 |  Mar 19, 2008 at 10:58 PM

I think that I've seen this diorama before, but it had Barbie's and little trolls.

Not figuratively, literally.

Anyway, I feel a craving for pudding coming on.

kar
 |  Mar 19, 2008 at 11:21 PM

I have never laughed so hard from a CO post. You just made my entire day.

Yup, still laughing 5 minutes later...

Mmm...Sacrilicious... makes a kid look to the Easter

Mae
 |  Mar 19, 2008 at 11:40 PM

It's the tiiiiny little dollar bills that get to me -- especially the ones tucked so carefully into the peeps' thongs.

I'll never look at peeps the same way again.

mch
 |  Mar 19, 2008 at 11:42 PM

Oh, mah, gah. I was only going to lurk right now, but now I 'gotsta' comment, even if it's just to say, "it's too moishe!". XD

Raemie L.
 |  Mar 19, 2008 at 11:51 PM

Shameless exploitation of innocent sugar coated marshmallow candy! What if their mothers see this?

Niki
 |  Mar 19, 2008 at 11:57 PM

omg - lol!!

eikoleigh
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 12:29 AM

I followed the link Sommer C. gave (Mar 19, 2008 at 10:07 PM), and whoa, nice and funny/disturbing dioramas (from Semi-finalists and Finalists, of course). And whatta way to promote Peeps Marshmallows. : P

Raemie L.
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 12:34 AM

@Yubishines: Maybe pasties instead of tassels? *coughs* No, no tassels on the curtains, that is! (And otherwise, in their Easter Day suits.) If the furniture is made of Starbursts candy and the stage is made of chocolate, would the curtains be made of Red Vine candy? Eep, tiny mojitos?

Raemie L.
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 12:57 AM

OMG! One of the yellow ones has a ciggy in his mouth!!

HIL-Ar-IOUS.

Amanda
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 01:24 AM

 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 03:54 AM

I've seen this several times, but it always gets a chuckle out of me, (I know, I'm depraved). The tiny dollar bills! that slays me.

metsakins
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 04:28 AM

it was the tiny pasties that got me!

Lioness
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 05:22 AM

Check out my blog - my husband made a peep show cake based on this picture. Only peep bunnies don't dance for money, guys - they dance for jelly bellies!!!

The pole is a gray crayola colored pencil. You can see the edge of the shiny gold logo. Whoever did this is really inventive, and I'm so emailing this to my mother on easter.

AliceTanzer
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 06:08 AM

Shouldn't the chicks be the ones on stage??

SuSea
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 06:23 AM

Brilliant! SuSea, those chicks are kinda FAT.

This is hilarious! The other peep dioramas for the Washington Post contest were great. I think my favorite is the one of the Metro stop during rush hour.

Here's a shout out to my Peeps...

VT Dude

Peeps pasties! And they have dollar bills in their g-strings! *snort*

But who owns the strip joint? Ivan the Terrible? Do you get more tips if you impale yourself?

AuntieMame
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 07:14 AM

Good greif I thought I had gone to wrong web page for a second.... just kidding

between the funny money and the pole dancer I cannot decide which part makes me laugh the hardest....

Dolla Dolla Bill Ya'll!

Jen
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 07:29 AM

Oh, how I love them peeps. What fond, sugar-soaked memories they bring back to me of my fundy Baptist Easters of yore... wait a sec - those peeps are behaving in a sinful and licentious manner...little scamps! For more peep-related fun, you must check out the institute of peep research (if already noted, sorry!) here: http://www.peepresearch.org/.

grannymoon
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 07:54 AM

Awesome! I loves me some peep dioramas. This one's gorgeous. Now I wanna ditch my work and make one of my own... but I don't think we have peeps here in Canada.

Thanks for the WAPO link, Sommer. Some awesome peep-o-ramas there, but I didn't see this one among them. I did, however, fall in love with the PEEP-ing Tom scene. OMG the eyes!!

Also, scrapnknit, your husband RAWKS.

Mae, "sacrilicious" is sooo-- entering my vocabulary.

LOL at all you peeps.

cath

There's a whole thing on Washington Post with these pics.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/photo/gallery/070402/GAL-07Apr02-69859/index.html
And this video I just found is a really funny Peep-themed
one.

Hey Cath, I'm from Canada too and I saw Peeps for sale at Walmart. Just in case you really do want to make your own diorama. ;)

I made Peep rice krispie treats for the second year in a row! So sugary your teeth practically dissolve. Happy spring, everybody.

If we could have only done dioramas this THIS in 5th grade it wouldn't have been so tortuous.

That was blatantly stolen from Cheezburger!! I saw that a couple of days ago!! But it's still funny! XD!!

Ah, Birdcage, you'll fit in around here just fine.

Jim
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 11:14 AM

Juniper -- coupla points here...
1) it's not FROM teh Cheez, they just posted it before we did; it's most likely from the Washington Post (though I haven't been able to find this *specific* photo... outtake?)
2) you might wanna try clicking the link at the bottom of the post, you know, the one that says "We're not alone" in [brackets]

Theo
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 11:17 AM

i like how they had to make legs on the bunnys so they could put garters on them!

anner
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 11:23 AM

love this. actually, it's from The Pioneer Press peep diorama contest from last year.

katrina Gwinn

Cheryl -- nicely done! Good eye!!
(I should've been able to spot that myself, dang it... I live in Eagan!)

Theo

Just shocking! Soft porn on the internet! (sorry, I had to say it).

BBoss -- just wait till they get stale.

Theo
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 11:43 AM

Theo, ICHC commenters said it was from the Chicago Tribune.

 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 12:08 PM

Warrior -- it took some doing, because that link doesn't totally work, but I was able to find the photo on the Chicago Tribune site... without any info attached. That set of slides appears to be a semi-public "upload your own peep photo" page. Close, but no pink marshmallow cigar.

The Pioneer Press link does appear to have the original, with proper credit & everything.

Theo
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 12:23 PM

Shouldn't it have been the chicks on the pole?

Cat-man-do
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 12:39 PM

Hey, it's hard out there for a peep! Peepin' ain't easy!

CCH
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 12:44 PM

I did, Theo! I'm just play-nuffin'! 'Sides ICHC is hardly pimped out here anymore! GAHD! You can be such a neenerhead!:P Much love, bro!

"Just shocking! Soft porn on the internet! (sorry, I had to say it).

bboss | Mar 20, 2008 at 11:39 AM "

That gave me a hearty chuckle, hahahaha!

This post reminds me, I need to go buy peeps for our Easter traditionz - Peep JOUSTING! =D

Anasztaizia
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 02:15 PM

Btw - has anyone looked around on the Peepresearch site metioned above? The solubility test results are a little disturbing!

Anasztaizia
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 02:23 PM

Tesstricks, that makes me think of a line from a Bloodhound Gang song: "a lapdance is so much better when the stripper is crying".

yankeebird
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 02:33 PM

As a stripper, I get a big kick out of this picture.

I'm shocked that no one called me on my "pink marshmallow cigar" crack.

Theo
 |  Mar 20, 2008 at 06:35 PM

I am shocked that anyone could think this was anything but cute. It's only candy! Loosen up Kim. You're wound too tight.

Furbabies

I am shocked it took so long for kim to show up! :P

Kaitou Juliet
 |  Mar 21, 2008 at 06:12 AM

Thanks, dear editors, for adding my blog URL earlier, and cath, you're right - my DH RAWKS! He was so cute painting pasties and "patches" on all the little bunnies, and struggled to make the pretzel pole support the dancer's weight. And the substitution of jelly beans for dollars is totally inspired. What else would Peep show dancers dance for?

Happiest Easters and / or Passover and / or spring rites of your choice to all!

The COlumbus Dispatch in Columbus Ohio just announced the winners Friday in their Pimp your Peeps contest. The winner was a diarama of Harry Potter. The other Entries can be found here. http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/multimedia/daily_slideshows/2008/03/peeps.html
