I in no way condone this post title

People, will you please get a load of this tired, disappointed face. It's like this Señor McSulkersons joined the Disapproving Rabbits Club and took OVER as Chief "Nyerhe!" Officer. He's all stomping on your dreams and stuff.

Found by Laura A. Photo by Ayla A. of Archicats, amazing purveyors of 'Devon Rex' kittehs. More photos of 'Mazie" kitteh here.

Yoda meets The Brain meets Gollum meets Spock meets Cinnamon the Disapproving Rabbit? I can't help but agree. Maybe throw in a pinch of Salacious Crumb, too.

Carrie
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 02:12 PM

I think I see the same thing as VA Cat Mom - the glossary page stops after "Bleen".

Nekussa
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 02:17 PM

Nekussa and VA CatMom -- aha. I think I know what the problem is, but at the moment I don't know how to get around it on my end. I *strongly* suspect you've got JavaScript disabled (or blocked) in your web browsers, though, and the CO Glossary uses juuust a little of that.

Theo
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 02:22 PM

Teho, The glossary is stuck at page one orthe first 6 or 7 terms. you can't get past that to the rest of it.

Annie
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 02:37 PM

sorry I was typing while you were answering.

Annie
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 02:38 PM

OK, here's what I'm seeing with the Glossary:
- works fine in Firefox. (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ )
- dies just after "Bleen" in Internet Explorer.
- no idea what it does in any of the Mac browsers, or in Opera... so technically I suppose I'm *not* seeing that.

I will consult with Teh Meggles, who has access to Real Professional Web Developers.

Theo
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 02:45 PM

FURTHER NOTE ON THE GLOSSARY -- I've just done a temporary fix. More work is needed, but you should at least be able to see all entries in all browsers now.

Theo

Thanks Theo

Annie
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 03:21 PM

that's so photoshopped!

[if *you* say so, Robin... but you might want to look around Mazie's website a little first, before making any wild accusations... and by the way, that's http://www.archicats.com/ - Ed.]

robin
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 03:23 PM

I saw this little creature on daily kitten a few weeks ago.
He is COMPLETELY evil. He obviously intends to rule the world.
I must have heem.

Pinky and the Brain
One is a genius; the other insane. . .

Robin, I thought "photoshopped" too! There's no way this cat is real. Please, tell me it ain't so.

See for yourself, DebG.

Theo
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 03:32 PM

I don't think its shopped, though its obviously professional.
The parade of equally monstrous and strangely irresistable cats on the home website suggests that this is
reely what these cats look like!

catablob
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 03:36 PM

To everyone who thinks this is 'shopped, it's not. This is a Devon Rex kitten. These are cats with short, kinky fur.

This is sooooo cute. :)

shelle
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 04:11 PM

I looked at Archicats and STILL couldn't believe it. These are Martian cats, or catbots, or something. (Sorry if I offend Devon Rex lovers.)

debg
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 04:21 PM

Well sure, any of THAT sounds perfectly plausible, DebG. No arguments. Just don't go throwing the P-word around willy-nilly. (Well, OK, either one.)

That expression reminds me of Winston when he was being bathed. Otherwise, this cat, so like Yoda looks. But it also reminds me of one of those Korean ball-jointed dolls.

Aw! Fuzzy baby yoda puff. Overloaded on cute I am!

Andréa
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 08:51 PM

This baby is beyond freakin cute!! A friend has 2 Devons, Suds and Nemble, and this little sweetie has the coloring of Suds and the attitude/cranky-puss face of Nemble...But, any time I sit down at their place, Nemble gets over his skittish crankyness and comes to find my lap!! Then I have the most delightfully soft kitteh to paw and maul while he purrs away...ah...the sheer bliss...

BunnyHero13
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 10:48 PM

Yet another example for humans disrespecting animal rights to breed "fun-looking" freaks. Unfortunately, when you change one gene, you don't just change one feature, you're disturbing a whole set of functions.

Let's wait and see what he'll suffer from in life...
although he DOES look like Kate Moss (see above).

Wow, *somebody* is already stressed out about the holidays...

acelightning
 |  Nov 20, 2007 at 11:10 PM

Uh, Varenoea, both types of Rex cats (Devon and Cornish) came about as spontaneous mutations that bred true by themselves. And unlike some other mutations that gave rise to new breeds (such as smooshed faces, folded ears, or abnormally short legs), Rexes don't seem to have any problems associated with their unique looks. (My son has a Rex, and other than being spoiled rotten, there isn't a thing wrong with her.)

I want to kiss and snuggle this lil guy. Do check out the kitten gallery. If you don't think he's cute, i think the gallery might change your mind.

When you look at their website, it's easier to figure out why it looks weird-- they look like hairless cats... with hair. And that makes way more sense than it sounds like.

Susan
 |  Nov 21, 2007 at 11:10 AM

i didn't mean they altered a normal looking cat..haha..but if you look at the blur in the fur and different areas you can tell which photoshop tools were used..just exaggerated his weird-looking-ness
