This is not the blankie you're looking for...move along...

When my kitty crawls under the blanket with me, I call that "Baking a potato". So if I call my brother who answers the bedside phone and he says "I'm baking a potato", I know that his cat is under the covers with him.

this is not the cute fuzzy kitty you're looking for... *sudden stampede as every1 in the vicinity tries to get to the kitty whether it's the one being searched for or not*

i'm loving the sudden Star Wars themes, keep it up1!!! (any1 remember the ATAT Walker [something like that] that was shone before in comparison to a kitty's extra toe? that should be put back on here too. do we have any puppies with the ears balled up on the head like Princess Leia? we used to do that with our puppies a long time ago...

Very true Rosie, especially before coffee.

Is there life before coffee? Didn't think so.

Raise your hand if you scratch Internet kittehs on the nose or forehead with your mouse cursor.

Awwww. So cute! My sweet dog loved being under things too, including a blanket that looked suspiciously like Callie's: http://www.fly-by-night.net/blublankie.jpg

Sadly, I lost my beautiful girl last week to a heart tumor.

Hey, those eyes look photoshopped. The cat's right pupil seems to extend up over the eyelid...

STILL CUTE!

Michelle, was your girl an Australian Shepherd?

I had an Aussie/Border Collie mix that looked almost exactly like your girl! Sadly, I also lost her earlier this year. I'm so sorry for your loss, and so happy that you were in her life to give her the love that she needed!

The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel. The Spacing Guild and its navigators, who the spice has mutated over 4000 years, use the orange spice gas, which gives them the ability to fold space. That is, travel to any part of the universe without moving. Oh, yes. I forgot to tell you. The spice exists on only one planet in the entire universe. A desolate, dry planet with vast deserts. Hidden away within the rocks of these deserts are a people known as the Fremen, who have long held a prophecy that a man would come, a messiah, who would lead them to true freedom. The planet is Arrakis, also known as Dune.

Michelle, so sorry for your loss...

I have a Boston Terrierist that has a love affair with blanket snugglin'...he will fluff the blankies, nuzzle them with his nose, get them just right and the jsut stand there with this mind-meld look until I "assume the snuggle position". He has to be on my left side, under prepared blankie...with his nose pressed against some part of my body...

Agreed, this picture has definitely been photoshopped. Definitely cute, but I wish C.O. would differentiate between real and fake when they post.

 |  Aug 28, 2007 at 03:18 AM

Thanks everyone for the kind words. My dog was, indeed an Australian Shepherd. Here's a picture of her without her blankie: http://www.fly-by-night.net/littleblue2.jpg

And yes, that particular image of my dog has been photoshopped. Speaking of photoshop, I looked closely at the large version of the cat photo, and it does not look photoshopped to me. Sometimes high contrast areas or flash reflections of digital images will appear a bit wonky when compressed. But the photographer of that image can probably confirm it better than I could. Never could quite understand the point of photoshop conspiracists, but yeah.

Didn't think I was crazy...

I'm all: who put the funky electro-green pumpkin seeds into kitty-kitty's eye sockets?

Was about to call 'shenanigans'!

I have been thinking about suggesting a cat-egory (geddit??) called "Blankies" (which could include towels of much fabulousness)since so much of CO revolves around them - and quite right too.

THEO, WHERE ARE THE ROLLOVERS - I AM HAVING WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS AND YES, I AM SHOUTING IN DESPERATION

Ah, Meg, you are brilliant not only for your ability to pick cute images, but to distill them down into the perfect caption. This Star Wars homage made me squirt coffee out my nose from laughing. And make coworkers gather around my desk in concern that I might suffering some kind of attack.

.... SUCH a photoshop job. See how the green goes over the bottom edge of the eye? Bah.

lainey
 |  Aug 28, 2007 at 06:15 AM

And what's with the spice comments? Spice is from Frank Herbert's Dune... NOT Star Wars at all. The effects of it was to turn the white of the eyes blue, NOT change the iris colour. People... get it right.

lainey
 |  Aug 28, 2007 at 06:17 AM

Lainey? It's only a blog. No need to get quite so worked up.

BookMonster -- um, the rollovers are definitely there... pretty much anytime I see one that doesn't have a title tag already explicitly set by Meg, I take the liberty.

may the force be with you, obi kitteh!

jen
 |  Aug 28, 2007 at 06:37 AM

oh honestly - the entire CO is photoshopped! None of it is what you think it is.

pretty kitty eyes, and I can't imagine how you'd photoshop those eyes, and I photoshop for a living! They look like lime green opals!

I wanted to correct the poster who said they were hyp-no-tized... what they mean to say is that they were hyp-MO-tized!

OMG it's Carrie - Be scared.
 |  Aug 28, 2007 at 07:54 AM

are the glowie-eyes photo shopped?
my cats eyes have never come out looking like that in a photo, maybe red, but never "glowing green".

liz
 |  Aug 28, 2007 at 08:07 AM

Shopped. Not shopped. Who cares...kitty is still all snuggledy cute. I bet even the whirr of a can opener wouldn't trigger an exit from that fuzzy blankie.

 |  Aug 28, 2007 at 08:11 AM

Ah, there be people who must needs to find complaint with everything.

Photoshop
Dune
Star Wars

Some folks is needink teh hobby. Cause none of it really matters in the end. When you reach the great beyond, you won't be asked how you did on your uber ability to spot photoshopping on pictures of cute animals or your extant knowledge of Dune.
