Guessing that Flat Panda lives in a hot zoo. My sister's floofy cat used to assume that posture on hot days with belleh smooshed into the (relatively) cool floor.

BTW, Christina, why did you have to post that video! I would have been happier thinking pandas couldn't have any hoomon contact, which is why I haven't snorgled/kidnapped one yet. Damn that girl! Anyone know what the premise of that show is and how one gets to live with TWO RED PANDAS!!? Whew. I need to lay down. More.

I have always considered red pandas to have among the highest Cute Quotients(Q-teQ) of all animals, but these pictures are above and beyond!
While I absolutely adore cats above all creatures, the red panda pics have put into a cuteoverload-induced coma.
I am printing these out to take to work so when I suffer the slings and arrows of the insanity at work I will have a reason to smile. Thanks! ;o)

I think that the red panda is possibly the cutest of all the animals in the entire world! And kittens. What's cuter than red pandas and kittens?
I try to get to the Bronx Zoo once a year when they have the baby festivities. I got to see a baby red panda last year, I just wanted to snorgle the living snot right outta him! :-)
DKN, I tewtally forgot about the red pandas in Central Park! I know what I'm doing next weekend! (Not this weekend, I'm reading Harry Potter).
Speaking of the Central Park Zoo... have you been to the penguin exhibit there? They have a gay couple that get all depressed that they never have an egg. They finally felt bad and gave them one, they were all happy! Next time you go, ask them about it! :-)

Yeah!! Cricket, I've visited Wendel and Cass the gay penguins (though couldn't tell which ones they were, of course). An interesting thing happened to them! When the penguin population started to dwindle, they both went straight and mated with females! I don't know if they stayed with them just that once and went back to being gay penguins or what. I wouldn't be surprised if they did go back to the gay thing because they were together for SO LONG! Like 9 years or something. And I always thought it was funny that the zoo keepers swore up and down that Wendel and Cass had the cleanest nest! :)

As for gay penguins going straight to save the species...aren't the machinations of nature amazing?
Anthropologists have long posited that there are distinct benefits to herd or group species for a certain portion of them to be gay, because those animals tend to contribute to the wellbeing of the GROUP rather than to their own offspring. (Think of your favorite gay aunt or uncle, or you know, if you're the favorite gay aunt or uncle, give yourself a pat on the back. And then take those nieces and nephews to da Bronx Zoo to see some red pandas!)
Hells yeah, RedZ. I've always had a working theory in my head that homosexuality is an evolutionary trait based in population control and quality control, too, as in having extra nurturing hands around.

Red pandas are one of my FAVORITE animals at the zoo! They are so freakin' cute. They look like little red cat/racoons! They are so fluffy and chubby and just look fun to cuddle ;)
So this is why they keep telling me to Get Firefox. I want to download and install this cute panda.

A couple years ago I visited the Milwaukee Zoo in Wisconsin, they had a red panda (which is one of my favorite animals eeeevvver, and if I could have them as pets I tewtally would), but this one's tail had been cut off! I'm not sure why, but I was so sad. They use their tails as pillows when they sleep, and to keep them warm... and Milwaukee is cold! Oh, such a cruel world we live in.
Awwww, that's so cute! The torpedo panda looks just like a baby seal (well, except for the colour... and the big tail... and the feet).
