Okay, I understand everything but the safari guy in stilettos picking the cat's nose...

But cute cat.

Theo, that looks like the perfect weekend to me! Can I join you? You live in Minnesota or someplace right? Let me just MapQuest that.

This looks just like my Katie Scarlett O'Hara when she was but a wee one. Her fur might have been a tad longer though. She still lays like that and she's almost 9! She's the queen of the household, and a good guard kitty. She has to know all that is going on, but she makes sure she hisses at everyone a few times to let them know she is THE QUEEN.

That's adorable. I do wish there weren't a cartoon guy with words popping up all over it - it's cute as is, but eh, whatever.

good Choice Theo. I feel the peace of the Purr Right thru the Computer screen. And the beep on your shirt matches the finger poke of the safari Guy. Did you do that on Poipose/ HEHEHE

LOVE THE RCF!

the strange safari guy in stilettos is the one and only THEO, prancing around in privacy,

Prosh tortie looks a lot like my darling Maine Coon cat Tango, now 22 months old. Similar markings, but Tango has a clean orange stripe down her nose, an orange right front foot, and one orange toe on her left hind foot.

She was a feral stray I adopted when she was just 10 weeks old. I named her Tango as a kittiefied version of "Tangerine," for her pretty orange markings. Silly me--I forgot that the 9-month-old rescue kitty I had adopted the previous month was named "Paris," a name the rescue society had given her and asked me to keep.

So now whenever people meet my kitties, they think I named them after the Marlon Brando movie "The Last Tango in Paris."

Katy -- OK -- I added a link to the un-cartooned original.

Theo

BTW, I had to copy-paste the pic into a Word document so I could look at it and squee without the constant distraction of the safari guy and the words blocking out teh cute.

I need help!

I found a baby kitten under a car and have since taken to rasing him (he's tooo cute) he's growing like a weed but my dogs seem to think he's lunch! what can I do about this? I turn to you, cute overloaders, for advice!

I would introduce them slowly and keep them separate when your not around. I also discipline inapproriate behavior but I'm not going to open that can of worms. I had a dog and two cats when growing up and the cats were given to us by their mom when she decided we were a good home. Everyone got along.

Theo --kitty is a beauty.

Constance:

This is how my trainer worked with me and my dog (singular).

Put a harness on the dog so it's easy to grab without pulling on its neck. Have treats at your disposal (I highly recommend CharleeBear; they're small so you can feed lots at one session, and dry so you don't get your hands all smelly. At PetsMart).

Have the dog lie down while the cats are around. Hold onto the harness's back strap whenever necessary. Do the *ahn* unpleasant nasal noise whenever the dog makes any sort of physical motion or over-stares at the cats.

Make attractive noises so the dog wants to look at you. Whenever it doesn't pay attention to the cats, reward it with a "good dog!" and a treat.

The object is to teach the dog that leaving cats alone leads to Good Things.

Since you have multiple dogs, I don't really know how to adapt this, except to suggest that you take one dog at a time into a room with the cats.

Anyone else?

Suda Nim
 |  May 25, 2007 at 05:41 PM

I'd start by doing it separately as well. We however liked our kats and doggie to interact.

Suda - do your cats and dog play together now? Just curious.

 |  May 25, 2007 at 05:55 PM

Metsakins,

Well, I never got to find out. The dog died before training was complete. But it did seem to be working. Cats are also long gone, and one dog I have right now is so extremely prey-agressive that I would never even try.

The original dog was raised with the cats since he was a puppy. It was just as he became a snotty young-adult 2-year-old that he tried becoming boss.

I was just wondering if the guy in heels knows any lumberjacks

metsakins

My dog played with the cats. and one of the cats would run up to him and head butt him. that was also a longtime ago.

 |  May 25, 2007 at 06:00 PM

While we're asking for advice I have a problem thats bothering me. Up until 3 months ago I had 3 kats and Handsome was the boss. He cleaned them and took turns sleeping with them when a lap wasn't available. the other 2 kats never minded each other but weren't crazy about each other. Now Handsome is gone. One cat is adjusting well but the other one really misses him and tries to get the other cat to groom him and play with him. Other cat having none of it. Short of getting a kitten for the lonely one, can u think of anyway I can improve the relationship between them?

metsakins
 |  May 25, 2007 at 06:05 PM

"I was just wondering if the guy in heels knows any lumberjacks"

Doubt it, but I believe he knows quite well the fish-slapping dance.

Metsakins, Give them plenty of time to readjust at least two months before bringing in another little one. They will work out the relationship. As long as they are not drawing blood.

So your plans for the weekend revolve around being cuddled by a young man with hairy forearms? (Actually, that doesn't sound so bad at all... especially if he also brings me drinks and snacks...)

I think the Tuni dance needs to be put to music -- nibble nibble, squeeze squeeze, pokey pokey, beep, UHN! nibble nibble, squeeze squeeze, pokey pokey, beep, cha cha cha! and like that. Have a wonderful weekend, Teho -- but what about the other kitterguyses? Do they get any beeps and things, too?

Squeee!

Oh my gosh, how cute is that kitty? Theo, is this the closest we get to your kittens 'n' rack? I have one (13 years old) that will still sleep in my arms like that and right now is probably thinking, "yeah, sounds like a good weekend plan to me." But she doesn't claw me up like it looks like these guys have been doing to you!

Shouldn't the beep guy have a tutu?

acelightning-- you're right, I wouldn't mind that either.

one of the erins
 |  May 26, 2007 at 08:06 AM

Finally saw the gooshyfood frenzy - very funny! But at the risk of being labeled a nuff, please be careful with the open cans and kitty tongues! The vet who runs our cat rescue has terrified us with the story of a cat who essentially amputated its own tongue on the edge of a gooshyfood can and didn't survive. We have to keep the cans away from the bebbehs or it's instant expulsion from the volunteer list.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled snorgling session...

Hey, My cat looks identical to this cat. Right down to the different coloured paws and the stripes of copper on its legs. Do you know what type of cat this is? I have had her for 4 years and she still the size of a 6 month old kitten.

I think there ought to me some dance moves to "nibble, nibble, squeeze, squeeze, pokey, pokey, beep" (Can we just abbreviate it NNSSPPB?)
We'll start with the kindergardeners and soon it'll be all the rage at weddings, kind of like the macarena and the hustle...
