Armchair veterinarian

This guy's squished muzzlepuff forced his tongue out. Tough when that happens; not enough room inside the muzzle for his tongue.

Pug_tongue

Give him a scratch between the eyes on that soft patch for us, Brenda!

Hmmm...

I'm noticing a pattern here. Black pugs seem cute. The tan ones can be quite pugly. Curiouser and curiouser!

having owned pugs----

YAY! however, while the tween the eyes area is soft, it's the pug muzzlepuff that is the sweetest. Unique to squish faced dogs.

oh, and also the ears are Fabboo!

Hee! This lil bugger makes me giggle!

I love the squish-face dogs. Reminds me of my bulldog.

It's the ears, though, really. How soft do they look? And how tiny is this guy? Looks like that whole smooshy face would fit in the palm of a hand.

Them's called "atchaforya eyes" - one's looking "atcha", the other's looking "forya".

Wow, now I know why I don't bother reading the comments. Can you say, snarky, Theo?

Daisy
 |  Aug 03, 2006 at 02:24 PM

I actually think your "diagnosis" is right. My black pug's tongue used to come out like that sometimes. I really wouldn't be surprised if it IS a side-effect of the squished-in face.

That soft path between the eyes is heavenly to scratch (they thing so, too). On the fawn ones, the wrinkles in that area make something that, according to some books I've read, approximates the Chinese character for "king." (Appropriate, I think.) They used to actually crop their ears, thinking that the pain made their wrinkles more pronounced. Thankfully, though, that barbaric practice is obsolete.

to chacha---and any others---this is a puppy.

the good news is, ANY pug's face will fit in the palm of your hand.

and then manual snorgelage is de rigeur. That's right, just smoosh that flat face and feel the soft muzzlepuffage.

It is likely that the pug will reward you with a snort or sneeze afterward.

and DON"T get me started on snoring pugs....very comforting in the dark night.

I can and do, Daisy.

I'm also perfectly capable of moving on to other topics, once I've made my point.

So I hear there's a smooshy dog around here. Anybody seen one?

Also, a question: Do pugs snore badly or is that a myth?

Also, when I click on "comments" for the entries on the front page, it opens in a new window. Is that new or something on my end? Not really complaining, it just makes it a little harder to hide the windows at work...

We need a category called "Tongue out" or maybe a new rule of cuteness: "Sticking your tongue out a teeny tiny bit is ALWAYS cute" See the kitty of a few days ago
http://mfrost.typepad.com/cute_overload/2006/07/keepingcool_tac.html
or hamster tongue!
