I should say... very cute 'lambie'!

Hmm. Good question.

Oops... forgot the rules about FP. My bad.

Jay Fry
 |  May 30, 2006 at 09:21 AM

Ehh... as some of the CO "regulars" are probably busting to point out, right about now, it's *my* rule. Like, personally. But I appreciate it.

Theo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 09:23 AM

aww I just wanna tickle those lambie ears. (So that's what sheep do on their *days* off.)

Mom! I just found out I've been accepted by the coolest farm frat house - Alfalfa Lambda Delta!

Oh man, I'm so happy I took my dog off his lamb and rice diet. How Cutie!

That's the greenest grass and those are the cleanest, whitest baa-baas I've ever seen. They look freshly laundered (perhaps with "Woolite"?)

hee hee, Aubrye, verrry clever!

Theo, why don't you just make a glossary entry under "Theo's Rule," not only reiterating what appears under First Post but includes a link to a virtual slap. Capisce?

jaypo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 10:39 AM

oops, sorry AubREY. No E.

jaypo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 10:40 AM

That what CO needs...more lambs! If you put a lamb and a cow calf together, you get Lambda Mu, an actual Phi Theta Kappa (two-year college honor society) chapter at St. Clair County Commmunity College in Port Huron, Michigan.

Enough of my geekiness...look at the wooly fur on those creatures!

Jackie

Anyone else thinking "mint sauce"? [sorry]

Tony James
 |  May 30, 2006 at 10:44 AM

Four legs good. TJ baaaad.

Theo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 10:49 AM

Jaypo -- I've updated the Glossary entry... slightly.

Theo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 10:53 AM

If a baby sheep gets a fungal infection, does it treat it with Lambie-sil? (from the people who brought you "Do baby monkeys sleep in ape-ricots?")
T-O - sorry still recovering from a weekend with my sister's kids, mind still emerging from dark place... ;)

Tony James
 |  May 30, 2006 at 10:53 AM

That's what you get for being the Bad Uncle. And the groaners.
;)

Theo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 10:55 AM

Shouldn't a baby lamb say "Maaaa-aaaaa-aaaam?"

akeeyu
 |  May 30, 2006 at 10:59 AM

Mary had a little sheep.
With the sheep she went to sleep.
The sheep turned out to be a ram.
Now Mary has a little lamb.
:-)

Angel
 |  May 30, 2006 at 11:00 AM

Jaypo - no need to feel sheepish. The Auld English spelling is perfectly acceptable.

Aubrey
 |  May 30, 2006 at 11:01 AM

("Angel?" Hah! You're evil. Damn!)

Theo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 11:02 AM

You done us proud, teho.

jaypo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 11:03 AM

akeeyu, the babylamb also says "baaaaa-roo?"

(Sorry, it had to be said.)

Laurie C
 |  May 30, 2006 at 11:09 AM

Mary had a little lamb
She also had a bear
I often saw her little lamb
but I never saw her bare.

Tony James
 |  May 30, 2006 at 11:15 AM

painful, Laurie, but necessary. :-)

jaypo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 11:15 AM

Mary couldn't get to sleep
So she started counting sheep...

jaypo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 11:18 AM

Oooh, TJ, yum.

Sorry, I'm to be classified in the "bad" category too. Even my vegetarian self mouth-waters at the thought...

Funnily enough, they don't seem to do lamb with mint sauce in America...

A thinker
 |  May 30, 2006 at 11:20 AM

jaypo, it could always be "Maaaa-rooo?" Take your pick.

Laurie C
 |  May 30, 2006 at 11:20 AM

In Pennsylvania, too. My family used to make it for Easter. (Well, with mint jelly on the side, but you get the idea...)

Theo, good call on the glossary entry. ;)

mint jelly = mint sauce.

just different British/NA terminology...

A thinker
 |  May 30, 2006 at 12:47 PM

Mint jelly is one of those old-timey things, a "leftover "--no pun intended--from the 19th c. Like creamed onions, beef in aspic, poulet en croute, pickled everything, and 6 course meals. Personally, I'm much happier with rosemary, garlic, and parsely, everything a self-respecting Victorian would frown on. too stinky.

jaypo
 |  May 30, 2006 at 12:55 PM

"parsley" that is.

I like mint jelly. And I like lamb chops and leg of lamb, I cannot deny it.

But I'm also bonkers for real, live lambs and adult sheep. I think the movie "Babe" has a lot to do with it.

E. Collison
 |  May 30, 2006 at 06:14 PM

I like lamb chops and I cannot lie
Cuteologists can't deny
When the plate's brought in
With the jelly of the mint
That fork to my mouth does fly
If there's a line
I jump to the front
Cuz you notice that I still ain't stuffed
Relaxed fit are the jeans I'm wearing
Cuz I'm hungry and don't feel like sharing

Aubrey

[snickers @ Aubrey]

Y'know I'm quite tempted to write some more to that, but it wouldn't change the fact that I'm a 35-yr-old midwestern IT dude who likes cats. And really, it's good enough as is.

(Wanna sit down wit ya.
Pass me dat pitcher.)

Sheep Are Cute. Not just edible, but cute. Adults as well as babies--and often they love to be scratched...

They also make lovely wool, which is fun to knit (if you're the crafty sort).
